This is good example of the difference in cultures. Europeans are very comfortable with nudity, but violence and guns are a no-no, or are considered shocking. The US is a bit in between, but lean to being more comfortable with guns and certain kinds of violence. it seems that East Asians like violence, but nudity is right out.

As far as the blue penis was concerned, it really served no useful purpose in the movie, so why not leave it out.

If you allow uncontrolled assignement of "tags" (aka keywords) you will get junk. Some people will be conscientious and try to do a good job, some will be "cute" and tag will the latest slang for their domain; some will take advantage and tag for their own nefarious purposes. You will have to deal with the junk/crud/cruft.

If you impose some sort of control, you will have to deal with those who will flame about the restrictions, you will have to deal with endless discussion on what the correct "tag" is for any given subject and whether or not it offends some group or not.

There is a term for this area of endeavour--Library Science! There has been discussion and work going on related to the web and indexing schemes for at least 10 years. try searching for "Network Knowledge Organization Schemes" or some variant.

Possibly another way to look at it is: Programmer will come out of application areas. Geologists wil write geological oriented software for say oil discovery.

Another semi-random thought on CS education. If you want to be a good programmer doing interesting programming--get an engineering degree. You will have a more rigorous background, and you will probably get better problem solving skills training. Alternatively, look for a school like Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo (I am not a grad). that focusses on what makes an employable programmer, and subsequently get great support from industry.

Michael Jackson owned only the publishing rights to the Beatles' songs. To raise the money to start Apple Records, the group foolishly sold the publishing rights around 1968. Michael has no control over the recorded versions themselves. The publishing rights changed hands a few times and eventually Michael bought it by secretly outbidding Paul McCartney by a lot. Paul has said that he tried to get Yoko to offer more as he felt that as John's widow she should own half of the publishing, but Yoko wanted to get them cheap and refused to pay what Paul thought it would take to get it. While he was trying to talk Yoko into paying more, Michael offered maybe 3 or 4 times what Paul/Yoko's offer was and the guy who owned the songs jumped at it.

AFAIK: MJ out bid Paul by about 3 million us dollars. Something like 43 million vs 40 million.

Au Contraire. No license is required for assigning numbers to books. In fact, you might look inside the book for a CIP, Cataloging in Publication, and yuo will find a Dewey Number assigned by the Library of Congress, as well as and LC classification number. The problem with Dewey and LC is that they do not handle fiction very well. What costs with the Dewey is to buy the books or to use OCLC's online system. You Library might have the Dewey--4 Volumes in their reference section.
