What about using a/an {insert your favorite audio format here} playlist of music you own and use the same technique? The DMCA would have to be violated many times for your information to be retrieved. Just a thought.
A valuable lesson can be learned from my mistake. Make sure you always look at the screenshot, regardless of what the thumbnail image looks like before you submit.
You're right, I have to be mistaken. Several conversations took place on the PS2 Linux community forums, and I don't remember what the deal was with it exactly. I was in haste when I submitted the parent. All of the modified code is included, so I assume it would have to be open. I'll have to dig around and find the context on the forums.
The PS2 Linux kit comes with version 2.2.1 of the kernel modified for mipsel use. I diff'd the vanilla 2.2.1 source tree against the ps2-linux 2.2.1 source tree--and quite a lot has been added/modified--but it's not open source. It has several people wondering how 2.4.x is going to be ported to PS2 because of the radical changes.
And furthermore, why is gentoo on ps2 special? (apart from the benefits of emerge et al)
The only Linux distribution available apart from Sony PS2 Linux (Red Hat 5.2 based) is BlackRhino Linux (Debian based), and it doesn't work well at all from my experience with it. A new PS2 Linux distribution such as Gentoo is warmly welcomed by the community.
Contrary to "popular" belief, not everyone has the ability to get broadband. It could be income related, or simply location. Some people barely get by with AOL, and some even have to dial long distance for that. This is a major step in offering some hope to these poor souls. Be thankful that you have it. You could have just as easily been cursed.
Actually, it's kind of funny that you stated it the other way around. This is a well-disquised troll, but a troll regardless.
The developers of Konq were the ones "to suck up the resources of the community in useless flogging of a concept already cemented." Just take a look at the facts. It's a recreation of the concept of Gecko, a rendering engine that already had the goal of full W3C standard compliance.
I do agree with one thing though, the concept of the web browser has been figured out, but it isn't Konqerer.
Consistency between applications on Linux is a pipe dream, unfortunately for the near future. I'll explain why.
Different applications make use of different interface toolkits like GTK+, Qt, Tk, Swing, AWT, Xaw, Fltk, etc. Unless a container toolkit of some kind is developed (that supports GTK+ and Qt at the very least), this is going to be a major roadblock.
A better solution that would be amazingly helpful to Linux on the desktop is if KDE and Gnome could come together and tackle this as a team.
Perhaps it's a conspiracy when Microsoft charges an arm and a leg for for their operating systems, development solutions and site licenses, while Linux (downloaded) is completely free in all of those aspects. Even development resources are freely available online, cutting out the need to spend extra cash on learning material. The only arguable point of cost is that properly supported hardware isn't as abundant for Linux.
Sure this letter is really open? No strings? Will I be sued if I don't include parts of this letter into my own?
Actually, there will be a $699 license fee for using it. It won't be mentioned until a few years later though. I think SCO is considering it a backup retirement plan.
I can also see be performance penalties since you are now querying a database, rather than looking at a simple file structure...
Performance penalties will be negligible if not transparent in the near future. Remember, we are shooting for capability and not necessarily speed for present technology. Technology makes up for that further down the road.
This is just a thought, but it intrigues me. What about sockets (pipes and fifos possibly too) using this method? Imagine the firewalling possibilites alone. Wow.
Another stray thought. What about compressing the database records with Gzip on a PCI card?
(Yes, batch files did have IF, GOTO, and so on, but try looping over a set of files, or taking the output of one file and using it on the command line of another file)
Ah, good ole batch files. Yes, they can do the first task you mention just fine (albeit extremely mundane compared to shell scripting).
To work with a set of files, try something similar to this in a batch file:
@ECHO OFF FOR %%f IN (*.txt) DO TYPE %%f
There are work-arounds for using the output of a program to another command line in a batch file, but they involve a psuedo-command batch file to set the output to a temporary environment variable. Quite ugly in fact, I dare not scrawl such funk here.
Obviously, shell scripting methods are preferred over batch files.
My question is what happens if space debree/meteorite hits the elevator? Would it have some sort of quick release connector like the Xbox controller? Take a look at this picture and you'll see why.
Better yet, Slashdot could close all other sections of the site and leave this discussion on the front page. That would get attention and everyone would be informed as to why.
But I guess all that ad revenue is too hard to forfit for the cause..
Hyperlinking the URL would fix the problem and make access convenient. Why not try it?
Download the Windows icons and convert them to xpm with ico2xpm.

Here is a Solaris 10 Mad Hatter desktop screenshot.
Pictures of the T5500 and T5300. (German text)
Here is some more information, with some interesting images.

Note: The VGA cable requires a SoG (Sync on Green) monitor. Non-SoG monitors won't work with it.

Using an autogen.sh generated configure script to prepare a source tree for compilation qualifies as this at some level if I'm not mistaken.

Normalizing would alter the waveform, causing the MD5 to change. Bitrate also causes change. I suspect imperfections on a CD do the same as well.
