Funny thing, I used to work for an Enron subsidiary. Enron actually was planning on putting a bunch of fiber down whenever they laid a pipeline. Which turned out to be almost never, but... the thought was there. Of course, getting all that fiber lit was an entirely different (and unmentioned) problem....Bastards.
I browse at +3. I saw the error, and was about to correct illuminatedwax but decided to check out the "replies below my threshold". I'm very happy that other people had already corrected the error. I remember many times typing LOAD"$",8,1 then LIST, then kicking myself and retyping LOAD"$",8 after the gibberish flowed.
Yes, because efficient killing of brown people is the pinnacle of human achievement. And also the best possible use of our tax dollars. Think of the children!

Mostly true. All organic compounds have carbon in them, but not all carbon-containing compounds are organic. Whether there's a ring or not is irrelevant. Methane is organic (one carbon), benzene is organic (six carbons, in a conjugated ring), dodecane is organic (twelve carbons), any given protein is organic (thousands of carbons).
However, carbon dioxide is not considered organic, despite containing carbon. Same for carbon disulfide (CS2), CSe2, CTe2, CPo2. I'm not quite sure why these are not considered organic, but...
Ummmm... ammonia is quite polar. NH3 dipole moment is 1.5 D. Water is 1.8 D. (methane is indeed nonpolar).
At 1 atm pressure, ammonia melts at -108F, and boils at -28F (from GPSA handbook). So it has an 80F range of liquidity, whereas water has 212F. However, like you said, ammonia solid is more dense than the liquid. Water is one of only a very few materials (gallium is another, I can't remember any others but I bet there are some) that are more dense as a liquid.
By comparison, methane melts at -296F and boils at -259F.
Just your friendly neighborhood chemical engineer!:)
It's actually Mrs. Lovejoy (the minister's gossipy wife) that always says "Oh! Won't someone PLEASE think of the CHILDREN!" Mrs. Flanders has not said that. (plus, she's dead.)
It's funny that Mrs. Lovejoy's only known child is a miscreant known for blaming other people for her problems. It was a fairly early episode, where Bart falls in love with the minister's "perfect" daughter who of course turns out to be not-so-perfect.
Puget Sound has this system in place. It's a Java applet. Check out Smarttrek.

"At best estimate, at least 19,000 feet of wire is in the control system. Most of it goes into the car body where it is twisted into bundles of increasing size as it makes it's way to the trunk. The trunk contains the driver circuitry, a 12 volt battery for the stereo, and a 6 volt deep discharge golf cart battery capable of delivering 75 amps for over 3 hours. If all motors on all fish were operated simultaneously the peak draw would be roughly 250 to 300 amps. The wiring is protected by partitioning and multiple in-line fuses, and a large circuit breaker panel in the driver's compartment allows instant shutdown. Isolation is maintained from the automotive electronics."

I agree that Billy Bass generally deserves to die a slow painful death with a spoon (because it'll hurt more), but check out this example of an awesome use of the annoying contraptions. An Art Car that some friends of friends of mine put together. It's amazing what one can do with an old Volvo and a bunch of Billy Bass (and its relatives).
Indeed, diamonds are NOT forever. In fact, when they're not under enormous pressure, diamonds are not thermodynamically stable. I can't remember the exact number, but carbon is slightly more stable as graphite than as diamond (I remember something like 4kJ/mol, but don't quote me on that). So in a million billion years, all diamonds will have turned into graphite. The problem is that the kinetics of turning from diamond to graphite are so slow that they may appear to be "forever," but don't be fooled!
Read the fucking law. If you own a copyright you have to actively defend it, if you don't your copyright is lost and you're up the creek without a fucking canoe. For all the bitching slashdot reading Linux fanboys do about the evils of copyrights they know jack shit about them.
Ummmm... sorry, you're wrong. Maybe *YOU* should "read the fucking law." Above, you are talking about TRADEMARK, not COPYRIGHT. It is TRADEMARKS that must be actively defended. Copyrights have no such requirement, Mr. Fucking Tough-guy. Note: IANAL.
And space aliens haven't zapped any buildings either! So the US Government must have prevented that too, eh? And no mutant insect swarms have attacked... the US Government must have prevented that too!
Just because something bad hasn't happened lately doesn't mean that the government's crackdown on our civil liberties has anything to do with it.

Don't forget about regenerative braking. That is a major reason why stop-n-go driving is more efficient in a hybrid.
I definitely agree with you, but I must note that it's "Walla Walla, Washington." No H's, no hyphen.

At least you spelled Tallahassee correctly.
I live near Seattle, and lived in Tallahassee for a few years as a kid.
