  1. At least they are thinking on CAPPS 2 Back to the Drawing Board · · Score: 4, Insightful

It is good to see that the US government is finally seeing that people do not want their right to privacy infringed upon. If they want to do something like the CAPPSII program it should be instituted voluntarily. Several airlines are already doing this and a rigorous background check to ensure the passengers are safe when they run them through an express check in. If anything US citizens should have their constitutional rights protected and if THEY should decide to give them up it was their decision for convenience of skipping the line.

The Christians outlawed crossbows in the middle ages, but the Romans looked down upon those who studied astronomy and such other sciences, the gods were unquestionable at the time. What I should have said was development of technology stopped because the Emperors started becoming more interested in bloodshed and controlling the people than devolving the society. This is one of the complicating factors in their downfall.

  7. Re:So he's pretty much out of his mind? on Sen. Hatch to Introduce Wide-ranging Copyright Bill · · Score: 2, Insightful

The issue is that a lot of legislators now days do not understand technology before they start to regulate it. Not understanding the good and the bad and weighing them against each other before outlawing it causes major problems later down the line.

Take the Roman Empire for example, they started outlawing all kinds of technolgy and that later lead to a static society there by leading to their downfall. Evolution is key to any society surviving, but lately it seems that politicians would have otherwise.

According to a couple of studies that I have read eating more calcium triggers a gene in some people that burns more fat. So basically lay off the crap for lunch and eat like 2 low fat yogurts which will give something like 50% of the calcium for the day and take a supplement.

For the study look for 'weight loss calcium' on google it will bring up the study.

I would agree with that statement. The medical community seems to think that everything now days is a disease. Everything must have a cure, or so they say. These doctors cannot even prove that ADD is a real disease caused by some abnormallity in the the body, ovbiously if you give someone Riddlen they are going to concentrate more just look whats in the stuff.

If somone could prove that ADD is an abnormallity I would believe this, until then I will be a dissenter of the pill pushing community.

I am a very dedicated rts and rpg player. I do spend a lot of my time playing Diablo 2, Buldars Gate 2 and the list goes on. As for the Rts games starcraft is well know for being a decent game but the fact remains that it is a blitz game. For those of you looking for a supply line game that doesnt require a mass of troops to win and that every unit has a counter balancing unit in the game look at Sierra Studios Homeworld or Homeworld Cataclysm. The supply line concept exists with the resorce harvesters and the hoard concept is nicely counter balanced with the fact that you can only have so many frigits no matter if you build assault or ion cannon and limited destroyer numbers of either type. I suggest these games if you are hard pressed to find games that suit your need for a more realistic representation of war. You can pick up either of them for around 20 bucks at an electronics store.

A laser would be too confined to one area why the hell blow a few million trying to pick up a laser pulse that no one would even bother sending to us?

We are looking for radio waves because they spread out over a great area and they are probably the most crude way of communicating over large distancess. Think what you want but don't go assuming that the program is completly lame by looking for radio signals.

  19. Hold on on Reflections on Challenger · · Score: 1

Before everyone goes NASA bashing here let me point out a couple of things. 1. The reason Challenger blew up was the fact that it was so cold outside that the O ring on the booster engine cracked and with that little hole in the engine it ignited the fuel tank. Thats what caused the explosion. 2. There was a lot of political pressure at that time (even though im a little young to remember the explosion i have read a lot of the accounts of the investigations) because the space program was starting to loose popularity among the American people because we have been there and done that. We needed something new to do thats why we sent up the teacher with the crew and they didnt want to delay the launch. 3. If you want to cut NASAs budget further than those short sited politicians you'll have problems with the up keep of equiptment and youll have problems trying to find a way to send satalites to Mars and you just wont advance in the science field. If you look at any great civilization like Rome you see that if the country isnt advancing in science then that civilizaiton is dead. I for one would like to see more funding put into our space program instead of it being the only goverment foundation to have its spending cut every year. I really dont appreciate the fact that congress cant look further than their next term of relection to find things to do that will get them reelected instead of looking out for the good of their country. What happened to the American curiosity that we once had? I'll tell you what it is its the fact that our pride as a country has gone downhill like the fact that Clinton screwed that intern and didnt even get in trouble for it. Explore expand and conquer new thing instead of sitting here with out thumbs up our asses.
