Hitting the back button is one way to avoid this embarrassing bug in IE.
Another way is to never put your OS on the C:\ partition. For all of my Win2k boxes in our office, I always create several partitions on the 40GB drives that come w/our systems.
The C:\ is ususally an image that I create to restore the system in case of a meltdown:)
The OS on every workstation in our office is on the D:\ partition.
It's not a cure or anything for this stupid bug....but it does help....considering that most of these script kiddies are writing this crap to initiate files from the C:\ partition...
What really sucks is that I can't read the freaking article until I fill out a form and join for free....and they'll never ever share any information w/anyone...
I just downloaded ManDrake 8.2....didn't cost me a penny....
And I can burn as many copies as I want....and give them to friends....
I can set up a friends PC...and throw Linux on w/out any licensing issues...
Try doing that w/a M$ product...I know we've all have done something similair....but w/Linux you don't have to burn your buddy a copy of YOUR OS, cause he doesn't have the $89.99 to give Bill.....just burn him a Linux CD.....w/all of the office tools you need...
I only use M$ because I'm forced to at work...at home it's nothing but Penguin Power...
The "real reason" is so that the U.S. Goverment can monitor everyones email...
M$ probably struck a deal w/the DOJ, to get everyone they can to install XP......we all know that Windows XP "phones home"......I think Big Brother is going to be watching the fools who actually install that silly OS...
