It's peecees and how the fuck does the mac community have any responsibility for AMD's marketing? I'd be willing to bet Intel has more influence than Apple.
An old IBM Thinkpad 486/25 (560C I think) from the mid 1930's or so. It has no fans and runs very cool. I have Minix, Linux (early kernel) and DOS on it for my spare time reading about OS design and implementation.
I also have an old Fujitsu Pentium 133MMX that doesn't use a fan or get hot.
My Dell Inspiron 8100 I have set to always run at 1/2 speed (600MHz) and it still gets hot (although not nearly as bad).
My iBook is cool and gets warm after an hour or so but not too bad.
I may just buy a Ti 867 and wait for the G5 laptops as I said. I hate having to carry a notepad/folio in my laptop case (Inspiron) to use it on my lap.
I went to the local CompUSA where they leave them on all day running some screensaver, and felt both the 12" Powerbook and the 12" iBook. There was a VERY noticable difference. The iBook seems significantly cooler than the 12" Powerbook and the 15" TiBook was cold (Since the case doesn't transfer heat well through the casing).
As a laptop user my #1 priority is being able to use it comfortably. The Aluminum Powerbook was too hot (12"), the 17" was tolerable, and the 15" Titanium was a dream (paint chips are not acceptable either). So I chose to wait for the new Al 15" and when my local CompUSA eventually has one on display (3-4 months from now) I'll see if it's cool enough. I bought a 900MHz iBook instead and it stays relatively cool. Hell maybe I'll just wait another year and hope for the G5 powerbooks.
I'd rather have these things than a hot laptop: Less speed (Apple already has this covered, My PIII from 2 1/2 years ago is 1.2GHz) More Fans/Noise Less attractive case (design is for girls, I'll take ugly and cool over cute and hot every day). Larger/heavier case.
Some corporations would rather buy Microsoft tools under Linux. Others would prefer to avoid Microsoft all together. If you really want to run MS Tools just buy MS Software. The cost of the systems aren't that different.
Visual Studio has been excellent since VS 97 (5.0) and continues to improve dramatically every release. I develop for MS, Linux, Solaris, and OS X. The right tool for the job is independent of the OS provider.
C++ Classes (no business logic in GUI code) GTK for Linux FrontEnd ObjC for OS X FrontEnd VC++ (MFC) for Windows FrontEnd Forte for Solaris FrontEnd
With good planning it's relatively simple to implement in this manner. We currently only offer our products on Windows & Mac OS. The Solaris/Linux builds are internal only. With BlueCurve it makes me more confident in the ability for Linux to be a good platform for our clients (extraordinarily computer illiterate) with a standard look & feel. Solaris hardware is too high to justify when we can get Windows/Linux/Mac systems for 1/2 the price.
In the end when you choose a platform for your business you need to look at all the available implications. MS quit developing Tools for Mac about 10 years ago, and it is extremely doubtful they will ever release tools for Linux.
It is significantly easier for hackers to find exploits in programs that come with the source. This vunerability could have been exploited for 6 months or more. Being closed source has nothing to do with being able to fix security flaws. It does however mean that only the company/person who has the code can fix it.
There are security flaws in all software (maybe with the exception of Hello, World!), this has nothing to do with the availability of the source.
You can develop software in any language. Fortran, C, Visual Basic, Assembly,...
99% of the problem is the programmer not the language. Every language has an advantage in its specific area. VB/Delphi Quick & Dirty Interface or Prototype (quick development time). C/C++ Portability & Speed of Program. Assembly True low level programming. Wait what is fortran used for again? (lol just kidding). Excellent math modeling for quick and dirty precision calculations (I'd still use C because I've never used Fortran).
I guess g77 is holding it back because that is one of the reasons I've never used it. I thought there was a Fortran 85 or 90 spec as well?
You're the reason the world sucks. "Accept it, that's just the way it is." No wonder Ireland is like a 3rd world country. Pathetic alcoholics, have a guiness for breakfast when you're 9, it won't cause any problems.
That being said I have both Virtual PC and VMWare and VMWare is far superior on Windows. I haven't tried Virtual PC for the Mac but VMWare on Linux runs my offices demo server quite nicely.
Fortunately for me I learnt to type as well. Boring class but extremely helpful in my job. Ahhhh... the good old days of competing with girls (they always won). I took french for the same reason, all the jocks (I was a jock too) took spanish because they heard it was easy, so it was me (straight guy) one other straight guy, 3-4 gay guys and 20+ girls (some hot some not). What an excellent 3 years in high school. Did the same in college, and to my surprise I met even hotter girls (and somehow learnt to speak french along the way).
Oh yea, touch typing is good and as you progress all the special programming keys (characters) and numbers become quicker as well.
Now all Sun needs to do is release an OS X native version, add a database that works more like Access (maybe php or jsp scripting) and MARKET THE HELL OUT OF IT.
Obviously you only speak to fucking morons, if they think people ride horses to work and live in teepees.
Tulsa is a piss poor laid out city. 99% of shopping is off 71st and Memorial (congestion is worse than at Sam Moon in Dallas).
My father is from New Jersey and my mother is from Mississippi. Surprisingly enough they didn't think that people lived in teepees in the 1960's so anyone that still actually believes anything like that is rather slow. Granted spending summers in NJ/NYC there were people who would give you a hard time about riding a horse to school, however these are just people trying to mess with you, they didn't actually believe it.
There are several things I like about Tulsa. They have a better art scene, it's a prettier town (more hills, trees,...) and they have one of my top 5 national restaurants (Atlantic Sea Grill).
Creative Labs is a joke. I have worked with several people that had that as their first job out of college and they say it was a horrible place to work. If you think people hate Tulsa, Stillwater is a shithole like no other.
Cowboys never lived in tents, I'd venture to guess 1/3 to 1/2 of the state has rode a horse at least once, I see a covered wagon at every home game (OU), and I'm proud to be an Oklahoman.
BTW Tulsa is going to shit (1/2 my family lives there, the housing market is crap, the job market is crap, and the people are republicans (which are made from crap)).
Amen. However if most people weren't stupid, it would be significantly harder to be successful. A moderately intelligent person can get ahead. If everyone was Einstein the market would be a bit harder to work in (at least for me).
It's peecees and how the fuck does the mac community have any responsibility for AMD's marketing? I'd be willing to bet Intel has more influence than Apple.
You can get Windows 2003 Server and Windows XP 64bit 2003 Edition from the MSDN Website (assuming you have an account).
If you want an over complicated project, use Java.
I like JSP, JFC based apps are painful to code, use, implement and maintain (depreciation is my friend).
lol, so true.
Paedophiles and rapists have the highest recidivism rate among any class of criminal.
I have a better solution. Execution, however the white one's will get life while the darker colored individuals will get executed.
Our justice system is sad.
Who modded this as Offtopic?
There is nothing offtopic about replying to a parent post. Stupid moderators.

They should change the name to Burntop.

Since states are trying to regulate it as a telephone company, but it works over the internet.
Ah the old political games we play.
Beat the rush, hate Bush now!

I was just joking. The reason you are stating is the reason I've never used g77.

Boomer Sooner (way to choke one off early Tejas)
I'd love to stalk my wife but she's got this bleeding problem.
Then how do you describe discrimination?
You're the reason the world sucks. "Accept it, that's just the way it is." No wonder Ireland is like a 3rd world country. Pathetic alcoholics, have a guiness for breakfast when you're 9, it won't cause any problems.

I sold that song yesterday for $0.25. If I'd only known that I could post it to slashdot.
Slashdot, News for Nerds and eBay listings.

Not sure if this is what you're looking for but they will probably get it on linux before too long (like C++/Kylix).

I did this as a kid (with a BB Gun) and that was before GTA. I guess I can blame it on the Duke Boys.
