I took 5 years to graduate with degrees in MIS and Finance. I also have a minor in French (you need ~130 hours to graduate, I had 183 at graduation). The entire time I worked 35-40 hours a week waiting tables and made more than enough to live on (btw Oklahomans tip like shit). It can be done, you just have to do it. This is how I got my first job. My GPA sucked (2.97 Overall) but when you list outside activities that you've done in college that closely match the field you are going into, you show you supported yourself through working, and you have a diverse knowledgebase. You get a job. Granted I graduated in 98 and had all my job offers in 97 (timing is important as well).

There are about 85,000 employees. You don't work under a specific manager you work with managers. The managers would decide where the resources best fit the current need. You were always one person away from one of the owners. Not too bad of a layout in my opinion.

Yes, but the readouts that produce that data are from thousands of points already existing in the country. I have taken a few metrology classes (they are a hell of a lot harder than you'd think) and our read out data on millibars, barometric pressure, wind speed and direction comes from predetermined points with installed sensors in thousands of different places.

I guess my thought is combining what we already have in the sensors and using the Doppler radar already available throughout the country, this is unnecessary in my opinion.

    2.0+2.0 = 4.0
    1.25+1.25 = 2.5

The Dual 2.0 is almost 2x as fast clock speed wise so I would HOPE it could outperform a G4 by 100%. However you can see that isn't the case.

    G5 Dual 2.0GHz Seconds: 396

There are a lot of examples herebut I'm sure they won't matter to your closed mind.

The G5 is better but not by that much. I do believe that it will improve significantly as the OS is tweaked for its abilities. The difference between 10.0, 10.1 and 10.2 is far greater than any hardware improvement.

BTW I'm a huge apple fan and have a 180MHz G3 Beige Tower, a 333MHz Beige Desktop, a 733MHz G4 Tower (w/22" Cinema Display) and a 900MHz iBook. I will be buying a 15" Aluminum Powerbook next week and a G5 on the next revision. I don't let the reality that the current G5 setup isn't significantly better than a G4 Dual 1.42 get my pants in a wad (as it has apparently done to you).

Did you see the performace gain by the cache you say is too big (Normal 512K P4 versus Extreme 2MB P4)?

The cache is the main reason the G5 Dual 2.0 isn't that much better than a G4 Dual 1.42. If the G5 had 2MB Cache as the G4's do it would perform even better (L2 would be significantly better than L3 as well, but costs increase significantly).

Next time you're trying to run some 3D modeling or any other intensive CPU based software, just realize the cache is significant.
