it weren't for Satan. I actually work with someone who blames Satan when things go wrong. Unbelieveable! I almost laughed in their face when I hear the reason for problems the first time. And I thought Oklahoma was #1 in religious nuts, I guess this person being from California gives me a different perspective!
I knew there was a reason I lived through it.

Thanks. My fat ass is safe. lol... BMI 29.5 (almost obese).
Actually when this thing hit I was working at home and the power went off. I was trying to figure out why (I live in Norman which is about 5-10 miles south of where the tornado touched down in Moore) so I turned on the TV (it was sunny and clear in Norman). The cable recycled and of course I turn on local channels and they are showing a tornado just north of where I live. Crazy ass weather. The alarms didn't even sound in my town (which they shouldn't have) so I was oblivious.
I drove by it today on the way to work and it isn't 1/5th as bad as the one in 1999. That one looked like a fucking bomb went off (it was 1 to 1.5 miles wide). Nothing stranger than driving by where an entire housing area used to be and all you see is a few pieces of lumber and red dirt. The 99 tornado stripped all the grass too! The things that were scary/cool were the pieces of hay embedded in telephone poles (or what was left of them) and the cars that were folded like a piece of paper around powerlines and no longer had any paint because the flying debris stripped it all off.
Tornado Alley still feels safer to me because unless you've seen the weather here and been able to compare it to other places, it's difficult to understand how well the weathermen/women do in these storms.
My best friend lives in San Fran and I'm pretty sure I could live through a tornado, I hope he lives through the big one if it ever does hit san fran.

Seriously, I have some old Win95 (version a) disks that I installed on a old Pentium 60MHz for a needy kid I knew going to college. It ran reasonably well and I installed Office 97 as well (word and excel only).
Win 95 a came on 13 floppies but needed a decent amount of upgrading online.
Win 98 would install fine too on a P-100 as well as NT.
If you want to go really small and just use 2 disks you could always run 2-Disk Xwindow Linux and hard code/dev/hda1 to swap and/dev/hda2 to/home
If the floppies die just give'em some more. No install whatsoever.
risk area, where if you and QA don't catch something like this, you're fired.
It makes you code better knowing screwing up could cost you your job. Although in situations like that you usually get more realistic development schedules compared to the corporate schedule of get it done now. (Or at least that's what I've experienced.)
How does something as simple as not passing authentication objects/info to the browser get past Apple's QA? Session Objects, Cookies and Hidden form fields are never secure from the user. Amazing this still happens.
Simply do some research, invest, keep up with the companies you've invested in.
I guess since you're not confident enough in your abilities, everyone should turn all their assets over to a manager.
How about buying a house, can you trust yourself to find a low mortgage rate? I guess you'll need your mother to hold your hand on that one too. Can you open a checking account, IRA, savings account, 401k,...
The only assinine thing about my comment is I assumed dumbasses like you could figure out how to invest. Sorry, my bad. Go call your mom.
degree in a field that generally needs applied applications (I cannot think of a philosopy program to save my life). I have degrees in MIS and Finance and always find a new job when necessary/desired (in Oklahoma no less, which has a piss poor market for software developers). Being a CS grad you'd probably get more bang for your buck by getting an MBA (you're exactly who the MBA program was designed for).
If someone has the smarts to earn the money, they have the smarts to manage their money. Just do some research and quit assuming the only way to win is to get rich quick.
Very few people get rich quick. I'm getting rich slow. Start early, be consistant in your investing (a same percentage every month, preferably over 10%) and ride the long term success. If your looking for a short term miracle just skip stocks and play the lottery. You'll have about as good a chance of succeeding.
Everyone where I work wastes money on bullshit schemes, lotteries, etc... If they would be sound in their budgeting, planning and career choices they wouldn't have to hope to win powerball to get rich. The sad thing is I never chip in and they all laugh about how sad I'll be when they win. The difference is the chance I'll be a multi-millionaire is closing in on 100%. I guess getting rich slowly is too much to ask.
BTW I have degrees in Finance and MIS with Accounting and Economics being my hobby areas (I could have gotten degrees in both Accounting and Economics as well but I figured 2 degrees were enough). I am planning on getting a Masters in Economics next year (or the year after depending on my financial situation) just for fun.
Faith is believing in something that no rational/logical person would believe otherwise. You can't make shit this funny up (oh wait, I guess someone already did).
It's really sad that otherwise intelligent people believe in the tooth fairy (whoops I meant god).
Flame away, I live in the fucking bible belt, "In God We Trust".
I took 3 years in High School, and I'm 2 clases short of a minor in college (22hrs total, senior level college french literature classes are freaking hard). Most of my classes had 3 straight guys, 5 gay guys (no competetion), 6-12 hot girls and 6-12 freak girls (they can be fun too!).
Your ratio to straight guys to hot girls is around 1 guy to every 3-4 girls. Even a total nerd has a shot in hell. Plus it makes you look "worldly" to try to speak french. Not to mention the old saying that spanish is easier is a joke (they are both based on latin, as well as portuguese and italian).
Unfortunately I met my wife before beginning my college french classes. There was some amazing eye candy in there. Oh la la....
I've got a 900MHz G3 iBook and a G4 733 QS Tower and they are very fast. 10.1 was unbearable but 10.2 is screaming. I'm getting a new Powerbook when the 1.25's come out at 15.4".
As far as over priced it may be but when you can run Photoshop, Flash MX, Office v.X, and it comes with free developer tools. It beats Linux, Windows and Solaris hands down.
Although does it really matter? Even with errors in a driver they beat the living hell out of ATI (in my opinion).
1.21 Gigawatts!!!!

Good luck. You'll need it.

Here's where I go for Info Through the Looking Glass
Really sucks those assholes at eidos killed looking glass so Dikatana could live. morons.
Tron, Dragon's Lair (to a lesser extent Space Ace and Cliff Hanger), Galaga, Excitebike, ...
Ah, I love the 80's (great show too on VH1 I think).
It's hard to beat having a G4 Tower, Apple Cinema Display (22") and an all wireless setup.
Everytime I forget someone hasn't seen my apple setup they always say "Damn, what the hell is that thing? A TV?" I just have to laugh.
I got the new iBook 900 and I'm waiting on the new 15" Powerbooks and the 970's. Until then I'm set.

Ah, it feels like 1996 again.
out a disk.
Temple of Doom barely qualifies to be shown as a B movie on USA at 3am.
Ditto. Keep up the good work. I'm new to BSD (from Linux/Solaris) but I've been very impressed so far.
I'm waiting for Theif III. (And Neverwinter Nights for OS X)
I never thought you could do it. I'm so proud of you.
You are not in the "minority" as you put it. Millions of people own their own homes. I guess you need to pat yourself on the back.

It's called a phone book. Try The Ultimates White Pages and see how hard it is to find people.
Not to mention your county assessment records (which are open by law).
You pull the plug on your linux box and corrupt a "slew of data" and someone else is a "retard".
Move out of your glass house before throwing stones.
computer nerds. I guess it goes both ways.
BTW WTF is FDL?

SBC the company that even the devil couldn't love. Oh wait that's Verizon (BellSouth & GTE I think, god GTE sucked).
Take French.
