    This is equivalent to giving the media companies root access to the entire population of the planet. Sometimes natural privilege separation is a good thing.

    Wordpress has rightfully earned this term. Wordpress is so script intensive that nearly every web page on a server farm, that a few concurrent hits causes the load average to soar. Wordpress may be responsible for a significant portion of electricity usage in data centers. Want to kill every virtual account on a server? Install Wordpress.

    I think that if this is often the case then 911 is no longer serving its purpose and should be tossed and rebuilt from scratch.

    Our city did do something about it! We kicked out our mayor who ran up our city's credit card by electing the city auditor to that position. Elections sometimes do work.

    Maybe the first thing she should do is put the non-emergency police number on her phone so she doesn't have to tie up an emergency line with this bs.

    We have the non-emergency police number programmed, just because we want to talk to a real officer and not put on hold to talk with some dumb 911 operator who makes us repeat our address 10 times and other dumb questions. We had a house burn down in front of ours, because it took 911 over 15 minutes to answer. I could have walked to the fire station quicker. We then discovered the non-emergency number and can get an officer here less than a minute any time. Its a real pleasure to talk with a real officer who has a clue what I need help with too. 911 operators don't have that quality.

    Microsoft will accuse you of being a criminal even if you install Linux on your computer. They honestly believe they own the entire computer industry or at least that's what they claim.

    I used a mod chip to flash DSLinux on my Nintendo DS. I just wanted a small computer that I can play with, not to play commercial games. If Nintendo cracks down too much, the community is going to be a much stronger.

    IIRC, Sony sells consoles at a loss, and then gets that money back over the life of the console with license fees from games. So selling 8 consoles which will not generate money from game license fees, but still having to take the loss is not a good deal for Sony.

    Bullshit. Sony is a hardware manufacturer. They make the whole thing from end to end. They create the price and take all the profit.

    It was great doing the honor system back then. There was room to joke around and if someone did get out of line, it was a game to find them. Then the place got popular quick. I miss the meept! nonsense, but realize only so many clowns can have the stage at once.

    Let them try disconnecting a landline telephone line in mid winter in East Coast to a house which has an infant in it.

    Its called "technical difficulties." Any lineworker wanting extra bonus points may climb the pole down the street and find a loose connection on your line. Might be days until they trace it down, but they fixed the wrong connection. Too bad you can't use your phone to complain and get the run-around anymore.

    Been there, done that, but with Bell South.

    My guess is someone hacked the database containing all the IP addresses and "evidence" replacing it with random numbers. It wouldn't be the first time this has happened and at least that is what these lawsuits seem like!

    Here in Kansas, we tried to eliminate science, physics, biology (embryos, etc...) and other things that weren't in the bible. Its not working.

    People know how to find Wikipedia and find out how to make energy uncontrollable.

    We not only throw out the newspaper advertisements at work for the single issue someone bought that morning, but its shared among about 100 people during the day. And we also use pens and markers to deface and editorialize the remaining ads. Its the community stealing back its own community!
