Who says it isn't taxed? What do you think happens to all the confiscated cash? What do you think happens to the money collected from the police auctions?
Declaring a drug illegal is much easier than implementing a new tax.
It has to be corruption. I mean, damn, the cheapest shareware author from the early 90's would be ashamed to ship something this spectacularly screwed up. It's got to do ONE simple, straight forward job. There are NO corner cases. There are NO race conditions. There is NO need for parallel execution. It is the simplest transactional system that one anyone could devise. And yet, it DROPS DATA !?! Get the F*** outta here!!
This cannot be explained by incompetence or stupidity. The ONLY explanation is outright corruption.
So we know there is an exploit and it is being redirected to a website...but no one in law enforcement can determine where that IP is located? They're running the scam out in the public, for cripes sake. It's not even like the old shell scam on a card table, where you had to have compatriots looking around the corners for policmen on foot patrols. These scammers have their card tables set up in front of the precinct office.
Yes it is a hole. Yes it needs to be fixed. But would the perps be that difficult to trace down and prosecute?
I'm back, 'cause your response bothered me and I didn't know how to respond. Had to think about it for a few.
The reason that Engineer walked that box with you was because some idiot of a Manager once upon a time thought he could tell a boy to toss a 2 HP motor on his back and make him hike up stairs and down stairs and over hill and dale. On a regular basis. Yeah, shocker hiking a 2 HP moter over Hill and Dale will ruin you. So they Unionized so the guy could get a cart.
So you had a situation where you had an idiot manager who didn't have a clue that he could increase worker productivity with a cart. We also have an idiot worker, who doesn't get a clue that his job will be much easier if he utilizes a cart. He doesn't have the balls or sense to say, "Heh, boss. I can get this heavy motor from point A to point B much faster if I have a cart. Then you can save some money on my wages." Instead, said dopey worker listens to the thugs, 'union organizers' that is, who come in and say that they'll fix everything...as long as they get a cut of the proceeds.
Yeah, I didn't get your response at first, because it is beyond ridiculous. Instead of Mr. DopeyEngineToter working with his supervisor to increase health and productivity, he calls in the thugs to beat up on management. Now he has to report to not only clueless management, but clueless union authorities. And so the absurdity goes on.
I never joined the union (I enjoy living in a right-to-work state). The union stooge came to me with a slip of paper and demanded, "Fill that out." "What is it?", I asked. "That's so the union can take dues out of your paycheck." "How much are they going to take out?" "I don't know", he said, apparently offended that I would have the temerity to even ask. I, being offended that he would have the temerity to ask that I give him carte-blanche access to MY paycheck, handed the slip back to him and told him to come talk to me when he figured it out. Never heard from him about it again.
Unions are full of clueless thugs with no reservation towards cutting their nose off to spite their face, or even the intelligence to realize they're doing it. Greedy, myoptic sheep, intent upon "sticking it to the man."
I don't work in a union shop now. Haven't for years. No one asks anyone to haul 2Hp motors around on their back. Most managers I know would look at someone doing that with an air of puzzlement and say, "Heh, stupid. Why don't you get a cart?"
I'm assuming that you're responding to me. It seems that you misunderstood what I was saying.
I love sports. I just got in from an exhausting workout in the gym (I kicked A$$ on the treadmill today.) I COACH at the high school level. I love to watch boys come in all shy and unsure of themselves and watch as they learn what dedication and hard work can do for them. Nothing is more exciting than watching the "I can" light come on in their eyes.
I find nothing interesting in watching adults over extend a basic skill. I don't and never will have a relationship with them. They are not the "hometown boys (or girls)". I don't care to live life vicariously. There's to much real life to live.
To be clear, I don't hate sports. I'm sickened by my countrymen's preoccupation with watching and cheering people they don't know, while eating copious amounts of snack food and getting fatter.
The union has successfully done its job in this company. It exists to get the best possible deal for the workers.
Then they should have enough sense to know when they have asked for to much, such that the business isn't sustainable. You can't get a raise and more vacation EVERY year, regardless of economic conditions. The skills you learned a decade ago don't necessarily mean squat today (especially in the electronics industries). Unionization in America is dying today due to rectal asphyxiation, and it is taking a large chunk of American industry with it.
The box story is nice, but suppose the box wasn't empty. Suppose it weighed 90 pounds, and the engineer lifted it and hurt his back because he wasn't properly trained in lifting.
Suppose the company didn't hire complete morons? Suppose everyone in the plant got the same industrial training as a matter of course, so the engineer could say, "Hmm? Heavy box. I think I'll get a cart."? And since he is an engineer, maybe he would be able to read the "Park Cart Here" sign?
Naa! Better to have some guy in the Union office making those decisions. Thanks for letting us know why all the jobs are going to China and right-to-work states.
Hiding in a corner, because you made your union enforced quota before lunch while worrying that your overpaid job is either moving to Mexico or being eliminated because the product is not cost competitive is not the easy end.
I agree, sjames. This union was the Communication Workers of America, I believe.
If I had heard, even once, from anyone in that place about the Union fighting to get more worker training or anything else to improve the workforce, I would have a different viewpoint. The experience taught me that unions set themselves up in an adversarial position to management, and from that point on their entire focus is on getting as much as they can.
OMG!! This partial solution doesn't fix EVERYONE'S problems?! Then what the hell good is it? Just because 80% of the cars out there drive 10 to 20 miles, sit in the sun for 8 hours and then drive another 10 to 20, doesn't mean a solution that will allow them to drive it for practically nothing is worth a damn. Damn liberal idiots with your goofy, do nuthin' solutions.
Unfortunately, the slippery slope is actually a marble. You can slide off in a lot of different ways.
Once you start banning substances, where do you stop. Can we ban steak, because some countries diets are low in protein, and all that fat is unhealthy to the athletes? (yes, it is an extreme example. To the point of being silly....or is it?)
Add one more criteria. It must only be fueled from the athlete's body chemistry. No gasoline, batteries, uranium packs, etc. All the energy must come from the athlete.
If doping were legalized, the sky would be the limit. Athletes would dope themselves to levels just short of death in their pursuit of glory.
You, sir, have no clue about what constitutes athletic training.
The "no pain, no gain"/"you're not training unless you're in a cast" days are gone. Anyone involved with training an Olympian knows that you do not get a healthy body by putting it in a near death situation.
But this logic can be used to justify anything. "People murder other people anyway, why not just let them do it?"
Well, there's at least a mite bit of a difference between taking a drug to enhance athletic performance and murdering people. Not a lot, I grant you, but some.
People also need to realize, that you can't just take a drug and get Olympiatic performance. You still have to go through the painful and tedious process of breaking the muscles down and training your brain to operate recovered muscles properly.
The "potentially harmful" aside is uneccessary. The parameter for safe use are understood and well documented. The only thing that makes steroids 'unsafe' is wankers shooting themselves up with extreme overdoses in the locker-rooms of the local gyms. I know some of these wankers, and I know they're taking a real chance of destroying themselves, just as you would with a 10X overdose of any other drug.
Also didnt SNL do a skit on this once...I seem to remember a guy doing the dead lift and his arms ripping off....
And that guy lost the competition. Right? People forget that one of the most prominent problems in the Olympians of previous generations was OVERTRAINING. Any coach worth her salt knows when to tell her athletes to cut back. Give the body a chance to heal and recover.
Being able to use drugs to enhance performance is a hallmark of the modern age and has promise to enhance our lives in so many ways beyond big brutish guys playing games. Wouldn't it be nice if your local fireman was a fit as possible to carry you out of that burning building? Ruling authorities running around with their fingers in their ears is just stupid.
Name one video game that has the intellectual depth of a fine art painting or literature.
Space Quest.
Woohoo! Now they can take the face off the pretty young girl and put it on the ugly little girl that can sing. NO MORE LIP SYNCING!!
Who says it isn't taxed? What do you think happens to all the confiscated cash? What do you think happens to the money collected from the police auctions?

I think a comedian is the correct choice to advertise for Vista, considering the whole thing has been such a joke.
No. Just Obama's preacher.
Because the fingernail polish will make the pizzas taste funny?
Now we just refer to everyone as RETARDS.
You do realize this happened in the UK, right?
No federal government there. And no concept of by or for the people either.

Dang, Igw. You nailed that one...clean and hard.
