I disagree. If developers (and analysts, project mgr's etc..) do nothing to care about the market (read: at least make the product easy to change/adapt) then the best thing that could happen is a lot of money spent to match user/market requirements.
I don't think that bandwidth sharing should be take into account. How may movies are you able to watch at the same time?
Instead i would watch a movie or browse the web while I'm cooking in my kitchen, or having a bath.

Hope the "PS3" will have one..
Or at least I hope that some video card manifact. will release a very compact version of his "top series" card...
Well, at least it means that adopting some kind of OSS will reduce your TCO (by lowering the price of your Enterprise-deployed-desktop-operating-system).
Let me address a few issues:
Also Java is Open, estabilished, with "open" implementations, and not from Microsoft.
Will this happen to be the second time the MS tryes to adapt (instead of adopt) a standard?
I like Mac, I really love PowerBooks, but I simply can't understand why one should use a laptop computer (that I assume is not built to run 24/7) as a Server system. Yes, I understand that california blackouts can be part of the answer, but it's not enough.
I mean..at least this particular is non really useful to the reader of the article.
You're right!

Ok, I suppose i'll need a few onces of lead or other heavy and dense material to keep it on the ground. I wouldn't like to have my P4 blablah Hz flying around over my head without an adequate ballast.
I think it's very stupid to power a drive you won't use in a session. Shouldn't this inersting hdselector be modified to "do not power" the hd you don't use?
I saw a sort of flame in the forum section of an italian on-line gaming site ( http://www.gamelandia.it/ ). It seems they are facing users who change the score in the java applet they are playing with, with a simple memory debugger, and get those cheated scores posted and saved on the server. Since the site is giving valuable prizes (cdplayers, home mini hi-fi, car stereo etc.) they are having many troubles, and maybe are deciding to stop the game.
Thi s is more than cheating, and the developer didn't provide any way to enable (and disable) this.

This is the last demostration (if anyone has ever needed it) the MS's pricing is over the "minimum profit", i.e. is acting in a monopolistic manner.

As I just mentioned the traffic (expecially when heavy) is regulated from the ground. So those interferences wouldn't have catastrophic effects.
