The "^W" control character deletes the preceding word, not character. This distinguishes from "^H", which deletes only the preceding character, thus they aren't interchangable.

If you notice, I quoted you with the four words preceding "^W^W^W^W" deleted, as if the "^W"s had actually had an effect on the sentence. That made your sentence incomplete, and therefore nonsense.

    2. To seize with authority; confiscate.

I don't really have an opinion on this one way or another, but your semantics bothered me. You turned ideas into things by labelling them property, and then tried to validate the word theft in this context by using a definition that included stealing. The definition of stealing includes property, which your previously defined ideas as, and the term rights, which neatly relate it to copyrights. Steal is still not a valid word however, because it implies taking. Take has to act on a tangible thing, and very obviously implies that you hold it into your possession, while depriving others of retaining it in their possession. This is not the case with copying.

    Carry on.

I don't know enough about extrasolar systems to know if they've found that the "ecliptic" arrangement is the norm, but I imagine it is

It would be the norm. It's a consequence of the conservation of angular momentum. It is the same reason most of the moons rotate in the same way as their planet, and most of the planets rotate the same way as the sun. The planets and their moons generally orbit in the same direction as each other, and it the same orientation that they rotate. Almost all of these bodies tend to stay near the same plane. It's the reason why regular galaxies tend to be flattened disks.

As far as planets, their orbits and rotations are set when a cloud of dust and gas starts to accrete. The cloud rotates as it collapses, and the star forms at the center, and the collapsing rotating debris around it becomes planets of all sizes, already rotating and orbiting.

Well, besides beings merely interesting, it's nice to see what were previously thought to be Earth-unique features on other bodies. Lakes and rivers aren't really found anywhere else, maybe at one point Mars, and maybe longer ago on Venus. To find a lake and a full water cycle, even if it's really methane, is significant because that brings our counter of objects which have lakes and rain up to 2. The more often we see simliar features and objects on other bodies, the more we can expect to find a useful combination of those same features out there sometime in the distant future. For some, it's comforting to know that you're not a fluke.
