  2. The real outcome of the attacks on Russia Accused of Cyber-War Against Estonia · · Score: 3, Interesting

By now, most of the sites under attack have been blocked to the outside traffic. That by itself means the attacks have been successful, information from Estonian government stays in the country.

A year ago, we had a donation program at the local IT College. Companies donated their old computers, we checked the hardware, installed a clean OS and they went to children with disabilities.

Usually we didn't even check, what's left on the hard drives, but occasionally we would stumble upon some pretty sensitive information, like some business-critical e-mails, personal contacts, office gossip. Anyway, we did our best to forget everything we saw and no kind of copies were made before reformatting the drives.

  4. Bullet-time on Flickr Launches Drag and Drop Geotagging · · Score: 1

If this thing gets real widely used, then you could probably construct bullet-time styled video clips:

    1. find a landmark (like Eiffel Tower)
    2. Draw a circle around it on the map and get as many photos near to the shape as possible, preserve them in the same circular order
    3. Now check them, probably many (or some) of them include Eiffel Tower. Discard all others
    4. Add them as individual frames to the clip.

Since people around large objects probably tend to take a shot or two of these objects, this idea might work.
I know you won't get anywhere near decent quality like that, but the effect should still be there. You might want to resize and position the frames so the Eiffel tower will stand in the middle.
Instead of a circle, you could try an ellipse. That way the end result can be even more interesting.

  5. Good work guys on The Making of Grand Theft Auto · · Score: 1

The open-ended freedom of gameplay in the GTA series is the thing I liked already in the GTA 1. The graphics was mediocre at best, but it rocked. Although it had many flaws, it was still revolutionary in many ways. GTA 2 didn't introduce anything beneficial to the series, but GTA 3 rocked. Since that every sequel has been getting better and better. I don't have much time to play computer games anymore but I love San Andreas and every once in a while I forget myself in front of the computer, for many hours in a row.

I hope even more from the next title.

BTW - Why do you think they show "It's a wonderful world" every christmas? An otherwise mediocre film has become a classic and only because of copyright! In fact, the movie sucked so much even the moviemakers saw no money potential in it and abandoned it on the shelves. The TV stations could show it for free, and after they did exactly that, many times in a row, the movie finally got famous.

If the price of a cd were 1$, even Britney would have a chance.

Never. It's common information that MS is selling the box cheap to get more cash on the games. If you're buying the box but are not going to buy the games, why should MS give a rat's ass about you? Actually it's kind of ironic - microsoft is selling the xbox so cheap that the cruelest thing a microsoft-hater could do to microsoft is to go out and buy the box and use it just for cd's, dvd's and stuff like that. That would mean no profits to microsoft.

I am tired of the fact that every freakin' show in Discovery channel is about Nazis. I am tired about the media's picturing of jews as the biggest victims who should be paid millions just because they are jews. Could we get on and not mention that anymore?
