  1. I don't see this taking off on Smart Gun with Minicam and Biometric Access · · Score: 2, Insightful

There are too many variables that make this gun totally un-attractive to potential buyers. To name a few, if your strong side (firing hand) is wounded or un-usable, is there a thumb scanner on both sides? Will it work with your hands covered in grease, milk, sweat, soda, or any number of other things that you could fumble with while you're scared shitless grabbing for your gun (yes, the cops are typically scared shitless when they draw on someone). What happens if you drop it in the dirt? the mud? what about water? What happens when you've been carrying it around so much that you've worn through the thumb sensor (yes, just carrying a gun will wear down just about any surface over time).
And reloading...oh boy. Ammunition costs could make this a real problem to practice with regularly, making it dangerous for the owner to carry as he doesn't have the experience he ought to.
Anyway, enough of my little rant, I just don't think these are going to be very successful.

"armor piercing bullets", thats nice reporter talk. The fact is, that *any* bullet fired out of a high powered rifle (300, 30-06, 308, etc...) will slice clean through body armor. Period. I would invest in Overture. As a previous post mentioned, they're making .91 in revenue per share, better than a lot of brick and mortor companies. They've survived the height of the bubble. Up until now, they have been paying Altavista to allow their ads for placement in the search engine, now that money goes in their own pocket. With the purchase of a more sophisticated search engine company, they could really have something going as far as long term money making. Whether it will take a lot of people from Google, probably not, at least in the near future. Even good search engines like Teoma haven't done that, but they had been making money from Altavista, so improving that engine can only help things.

This could actually be a good Tech investment.

The problem with their use of the code isn't the actual use of the code. There is a problem with changing the copyright, it'd be like taking some GPL'd code and signing your name to it. Yes, you are allowed to use the code but the authors name still belongs on his parts.

  9. Potential Problems on Linux Xbox Project Seeks Microsoft Signature · · Score: 1

Well, first this would allow XBox to run all sorts of "unsigned" software through linux, and remove all sorts of incentive for people to buy more games, as they could run a lot of linux games, or even use WineX and run games for the windows platform on their XBox, which could open Piracy to their platform in a unhacked state.

This would also, obviously, legitimize Linux and I think they would be far more likely to get a run from CD version of 98 or XP Home before this happened, but doing so would make it a PC, and people would no longer have to go to MS for games, thus they couldn't recoop from their loss on the console. So in a nutshell, it ain't happenin'.

First, how often do kids access porn in public places? Last time I went to the library (with no filtering software) I didn't see any kids accessing porn.

Aside from that, couldn't they put filtering software on a PC that could be disabled with a password, or have different accounts for different levels of "protection"? While some of those measures are not difficult to overcome, it seems that discouragement would be enough in most places. If a parent wanted their child to access the net unfiltered, they could let the library know. Hell, a coupld of the libraries I used to frequent wouldn't even allow net access without parent permission in my younger days. It's not as if these computers are locked back away in hidden rooms. Most of them are against walls or in the middle of rooms, where others can view them.

There are books in most libraries that have "inappropriate" material in them, are they going to start keeping the kids from those too? Or put them in a "adult" section of the library" Most libraries I've been to also have private areas to read these books, where you have a booth of sorts that others can't see in to.

After your knowledge of buzzwords is down, you'll need to take Used Car Sales 101, the standard for selling your consultancy. Another good thing to do is to set one of you up as the leader, and have the other pretend he is learning from you, make up a buzzword for his position. Most of the consultants are working numerous other Gig's, yet are able to convince him to pay upper management salaries for a couple hours a week of actually being there.
I hope that gets you started, it's a long and treachorous road, with with the right attitude, you'll be selling your "services" like they're going out of style!
