b) Gnome's *"Multiple desktops" through which to carry on both your work and another to browse slashdot or the "other" activities mentioned quite often
For windows: go here and download multidesk. Does the job quite well.
Hold on there yourself./me is a euro:) And I can assure you that what you see as the european opinion is *not* the majority view here. It's only the loudest group, as usual.
The question was: "how could they make contact at all?" (emphasis poster).
Other than that, you are right ofcourse. For continous contact I think the orbiter would have to be in a stable pole to pole orbit, and I don't have a clue if that was possible with the Apollo missions:)
It does? Good catch! Funny... The 3.1 song sounds a lot like Rammstein. Thought it was a coincidence. Could not find a reference to the 3.0 song, it's crap anyway.
Then again, since when our network executives concerned about what is good or bad TV
It's been a year (you say, I really don't know) since it was on. Since that day, in almost every story/. posts that has something to do with moons or planets at least 1 comment mentions it. I guess in the eyes of the executives this makes it not good, but excellent TV... "There's no such thing as bad publicity".
In my nightly build the typeahead stuff caused the backspace key to stop behaving as a "backbutton-key" even when I've done no typing at all. I know that alt-left does the same, but one key is easier:) Does it still behave that way in 1.2b?
I've stumbled across NASA's Astronomy Picture of the Day site, and I've become addicted to it. Not a day goes by without me browsing back and back through the archive. Lots of wonderful images there, with explanations by a professional astronomer, in language that even I understand. And ofcourse links for people with more understanding of the stuff they are talking about.
Anyway, it's an amazing site, really worth adding to your daily-visit bookmark group. And yes, black holes in or near "our" galaxy are featured there as well.
(Not karma whoring, I've got plenty. Just wish to share this with you)
eBay could provide legal resources to pursue him in court. If Yahoo Auctions did that, they would crush eBay in less than a month.

but if I try to send a Windows user a file and can't, the only thing they learn is "Linux can't do IM properly".
Just making sure: you do know that to send files with ICQ you need an open port for incoming connections? (Or am I confusing things with irc again?)

But still, no matter how long you've been a linux user it's still possible to accidently type "rm core *" rather than "rm core*"
Think that's funny? We have a lot of windows only programmers, who decided to call their project Contact Registration "core". Really. All database files on unixware. core.db, core.bi, and so forth. Unixware names its coredumps core.xxxx, where x is number. Now imagine a cleanup script containing find / -name core.* -exec rm -f {} \;
And it's even on-topic, since the book is about planetary exploration. More or less. One of the weirdest books I've ever read.

One word: keystrokelogger. Or is that two words? Oh well..

Well, Timothy, killing combatants with impunity is what happens in wars...

(obligatory karma whoring remark) IT EVEN MENTIONS PENGUINS!
Relaying via the orbiting command module. Now ask a tough question. :)

Would you happen to know Saddam's ICQ UIN? :)
You aren't thinking that the CIA is using Jamie as a sacrificial goat, are you? Sh*t, I just mentioned a goat on slashdot..
The world would be really boring without american conspiracy theories. Yes, I'm to lazy to look up the spelling of conspiracy. Sue me.
Looks like the Boeing webserver has become stealthy as well.. :/
Well, it looks interesting, until you actually read it... :P

I respectfully disagree.
windows
- often break
- need a lot of cleaning
- are often left unlocked for easy breaking in
otoh:- are clear and transparent
- can be armored
- are made from sand. how open can the source be?
Err.. confusing, this name stuff--
