Badmouthing the NEA wasn't a good idea.

Why not? The NEA is the biggest obstacle to improving education.

Rather than improving, the NEA and state teachers' unions keep asking for more money and smaller class sizes. But private schools with less money and larger classes get far better results.

The current bailouts would be impossible with gold coins.

It would have been hard for the Federal Reserve to make money out of thin air -- which got us into this mess in the first place.

Instead of government bailouts, we need the market to right itself. That cannot happen when the government throws money out troubled companies and industries that would fail or contract without intervention.

Just like the Great Depression, government is making a problem worse. Only this time, we don't produce many goods to sell to other countries. Uh oh!

The US banking industry still has a lot of inane regulations.

In a truly free market, bad banks would fail and go under, and customers would move and insure their savings accordingly.

But most people in the US don't save anyway, so who really cares?

I trust the people, businesses, schools, state and local governments, etc. can use technology just fine without a national CTO.

The cost of continuing to avoid such foods, even when we understand the science and can prepare them safely is minimal.

There is a high cost of avoiding pork and shellfish. I find it nearly impossible to eat Cantonese food, since there is pork and/or shrimp in everything, even vegetable dishes. And 'meat' products in the US most often have pork in them. It's a pain to find pork-free sausages, pepperoni, etc.

We also don't fully 'understand the science'. In the future, when scientists find out how bad pork and shellfish are for human consumption, we will understand it better. Science has not gotten there yet. (And I don't expect the food products industry to help pay for any research that will end pork consumption.)
