  1. Switched to Vonage today on Comcast Begins Rollout of VoIP · · Score: 1

I just received my Vonage router and hooked everything up today, and it works great. I'm currently using Comcast's cable internet service.

The last phone call I received before setting everything up was from Verizon. A rep called me to go over plans in hopes of retaining my business. Before he could start reveiwing anything I told him "If you can give me unlimited calling in the US and Canada for $24.99, I'll stay with Verizon." He wanted to go over all the plans, but I just kept repeating what the same thing. He finally said they could give me unlimited calling in the US (No Canada) for $44.99. He seemed diappointed I was going to keep my $20 a month and switch.

Yeah, well America ain't one of those places, you tea-totaling, disgusting food eating, comprehensive vocabluary having son-of-a-bitch.

All Americans should be thankful for the second amendment. Think the second amendment is just a remanant from revolutionary periods, it has no real meaning today? You couldn't be more wrong. If I didn't have this gun the King of England could just come in here and start pushing you around. Do you want that, well do ya?

Now, if TiVo (via the Home Media Option) could get support for playing AAC files purchased from the iTunes Music Store I'd be squealing with delight. I guess they'd need cooperation from Apple to get that going.

This is probably not going to happen, as Apple would prefer you buy their Airport Extreme to play AAC's on your home stereo.

The Indian legal system is congested, and corrupt. Money talks. Judges can be bought, clerks must be bought to get things moving. Personal suits take years to hit the courthouse, and then rarely are decided by the merits, but by whose lawyers made the best offers along the way.

IAAL, but here in the U.S. I am of Indian heritage, and heard my grandfather (a law school professor in India) talk about the system, and how the average man has no access real access to the court system, and even if he did could not afford the bribes it takes just to get the process rolling.

I just moved to Philly last week, and the cable internet service is expensive ~$45 a month. If your not a Comcast cable customer it's ~$52. Their cable service is a rip too, for the digital cable with the extended package (so get FoodTV, G4Tech, ESPN2) and HBO I't almost $80.

They do give you a good deal for the first 6 months. My internet is only $24.99, but it goes up to $45 after that. The service is spotty to. It cuts out for a few seconds every once in awhile, streaming video or audio is not great. Free wireless access would be awesome.

Treaties trump all state and local laws in a society like ours, where federal power outweighs that of the state and local governments. A treaty in the US (an many other countries) may be given as much authority as the Constitution. If St. Lucia has signed an agreement not to regulate, or has restrictions on regulating, wireless protocols then good luck changing them. Unless the treaty has an opt-out provision, it'll be in force for a while.

P800 doesn't have a keyboard, but can regcognize input from a stylus ala grafitti. I just wish they'd come out with a little bluetooth thumb keyboard for it.

  19. HP Class Action on Are Printers What They Used To Be? · · Score: 1

I just signed off on some class action forms I got in regards to my HP Laserjet 1100. The stupid thig kept grabbing multiple sheets of paper and jamming. Apparently HP knew that this was happing to them, but it was happening after the warranty period expired. They are sending me a free repair kit, and a rebate for ink. For people who no longer have the machine, they get a larger rebate for ink. I still have the printer, but I had ended up buying a HP PSC 950, which is scanner, copier, fax, printer. It works great, and with Mac OS X (actually the Laserjet 1100 does now too with Gimp Print). Looks like I'll have a laser for large volumes of text printing (useful when in law school), and the PSC for color and all it's other goodies.

My favorite feature on the PSC is the built in card reader with proof sheet printing. Put in a memory card, hit proof sheet, and you get a sheet of thumbnails. Fill in the bubbles under the pictures you want (ala scantron), bubbles at the end of the page for what type of paper, number of copies, etc, then scan the proof sheet and it prints everything out for you. It is a thing of beauty.
