There are so many little apps and widgets available which can be used to control iTunes. Couldn't Sonos write a little app to sit on your system which would respond to the commands from the remote allow you to control iTunes, see your playlists, etc. The PC or Mac could have its lineout going to one of the Sonos units, so you could then get your iTunes DRM'd songs anywhere you had a zone player. How hard would this be? Why hasn't Sonos done this already?
Your not only sending it to them, they already have it. Every W-2, every 1099, every piece of paper you receive, the IRS has already been sent that info. When you report, they simply match up your info to that which your employer or bank or whoever already sent in. If there is a discrepancy, the computer spits out an automated request for clarification which is mailed to you. This is what makes it harder for the average individual to cheat.
When you own your own business, and generate these forms yourself, that is where the real opportunity for cheating is.
If you've got a fridge, place some copper tubing in it, and make the water flow go through it. You may have to cut some of the rubber seal off the door off the fridge to run the pipe through, but it keeps the copper cool all the time, no need to refill water bucket with ice.
I also have a RAZR, but I have only been able to sync over USB, although I have not tried bluetooth since upgrading to Tiger
1 great point about the RAZR:
My law school does not support Apple laptops on their wireless network. They use SecureW2 software to secure the network which isn't available for the Mac, and I have been unable to figure out a work around. Thus, the only way for me to get on the network when I am sitting in classes without ethernet ports in the desk is through my RAZR over bluetooth. My Sony Ericsson Z600 used to let me on, but it would continually drop me after a few minutes. With the RAZR, I have stayed on for 3 hours without being dropped.
I have T-mobile's $19.95 a month unlimited internet plan. Download speeds are about the same as a 56k modem, with slightly greater latency.
Also, I recommend Ross Barkman's homepage for modem scripts for Mac OS. He also has the setting required for most major carriers worldwide, and it has saved me from having to call T-mobile many times. The scripts allow you to put the required APN names in where the phone number would go, and it will automatically use the right dialing sequence info. This resource has be invaluable.
For the most part, iTunes stores from various countries are probably more than 90% the same, with a few variations because of licensing and local artists who are not popular outside their home country.
Indian tastes in music are so different from the western world, although some western songs do become popular there. iTunes India would require additional genres of hindi, hindi film, bhangra, etc. Also, pricing would probably be much lower for songs and albums (last time I went a CD in India cost about $5-6 USD in stores). Because the infrastructure for iTunes India would still probably be located outside India it may not be as profitable.
Personally, I think Apple should go for it. Indian people are crazy about music, and a competetively priced store could do very well.
Actually, whenever I knew I was going to be making a trip to Canada I would make a list of all the CD's I wanted to buy. CD's in Canada would be around $12 CDN, which back when the US dollar was a little stronger meant they were about $8 US. Now, the savings isn't so dramaitic, if at all.
Oh well, at least we can still import music from allofmp3.com.
Who knew that studying to be a tax lawyer means you can post something useful on/. ??
These individuals already had the stock, so they were going to have to pay capital gains rates on that stock whenever they sold it. Long term rates are 15%. The highest marginal tax rate is 35%, which is what they would have paid on their salaries.
What does this mean? They were going to get that lower rate on their stock anyways. They do lose those $250,000 they were making in salary, but when you have a billion in stock, $250K is propably not going to kill you.
They were likely going to receive more options anyway, so the real question is, are they receiving more options for foregoing their salary? Options recieved are also taxed like income, but that is a very complicated road depending on the type of option, qualified or non-qualified, etc.
Also, California's income tax, I believe, is around 9%. I am not sure what their capital gains rate.
This sickens me. How could we let the government do this?
Clearly, this should have been left to the people. (By people I mean a huge class action suit where lawyers get millions and each customer would get a free rental or some other nominal compensation. That is how the system is supposed to work.)
And California banned the.50 caliber rifle, which has never been used in a crime that I can think of
Yes, and it was a good move. 20/20 or one of those shows demonstrated what this rifle can do. The reporter shot at an aircraft door, and had placed a 1" thick steel plate behind the door. He missed on his first shot, but hit the door right in the middle on his second. The bullet passed right through the door and the steel. What the hell does a person need to own this gun for? Why should we enable the average citizen to have the ability to take down an aircraft. Ok, you support the right to bear arms. People should be able to protect themselves, but there is a difference between providing a citizen with a means of protection and enabling them to take out an aircraft. I personally would sleep better knowing that steps were taken to make sure people can't get their hands on these things.
Jason Giambi's grand jury testimony was leaked to the SF Chronicle. That's how we all new he admitted to using steroids. Those transcripts are sealed, but someone broke the law and released them. Shouldn't that person be found and punished too?
IAAL, and there are several reasons we use Word Perfect, but the main one would be that it is eacy to format pleading to a specific court's requirements in WP, and not in Word. Many/Most courts require the lines of the pages to be numbered for reference, usually every 5th line. Very easy to do in WP.
IANAL (yet). I went to law school, and am doing a masters in taxation, then I'll take the bar in July (then I'll be a lawyer). Here's what I've learned about the situation.
Barter is not illegal, but bartering of professional services requires recognition of services received as income.
If I, a lawyer, write your will, and you, an IT professional, fix my computer, we have to recognize the value of the services received (computer fixed for me, will for you) as income, and thus increase our gross income, and likely pay more tax. This prevent professionals from never paying any taxes by simply bartering all their services for things they need. Once upon a time the U.S. was filled with bartering clubs full of professionals who were able to avoid paying large sums of tax, until the IRS cracked down.
If you need clarification or advice, see an accountant or lawyer (an accountant should be able to handle these kind of questions, and would be much cheaper)
Yeah, I was shocked about how much Comcast internet cost in Philadelphia, so I passed when I got cable TV installed. Then they sent me a letter that I could sign up now and get cable internet for $19.99 a month for the first year. Hold out people, they give in.

If you're ever in Philly, you can get some kick ass sushi at Morimoto's. Yes, that Morimoto.
They are opening one in NYC soon too.

Just tried to sync over bluetooth. This is the first time i tried since upgrading to Tiger. It worked flawlessly.
I am still unable to text message or dial the phone from the address book application over bluetooth (but can with BluePhoneElite.)
I also have a RAZR, but I have only been able to sync over USB, although I have not tried bluetooth since upgrading to Tiger

...but does it come with a cool type-r sticker for my case?
C'mon dude. Norcal English is hella easy to understand.
A fish can be at rest on a 'shelf' of sand, rock, etc., while in the water. From there is can fall to a lower one.
Hitman 2 had Sikhs in it. You pretended to be one, went to their holy temple in India, You then shoot the 'terrorists', who are wearing turbans.
Sikh groups asked Eidos to change the game, and they actually did. I think there are still a few of the original copies floating around.

Thanks a lot, it all makes sense now.
what does ^H^H^H^H^H mean?
Google ignores the ^'s when you search, even if you put it in quotes.
Apparently you don't see to well.
Your bionic eye may need a firmware update.

I prefer Westlaw too, but Lexis's Shepardize is better that West's cite check, and Lexis's tax tools are much better.

You don't need to go to law school to take the patent bar. You can take it and be a patent clerk for a firm.
Ummmmm.....maybe I'm wrong, but I think cellphones are wireless.
