    All three are used to prevent the crime and all three can fail, don't make stupid comments. It is particularly harder to kill someone with a door or deadlock, that includes accidental victims as well as villains. By implementing a good door and deadbolt you lower the risk of the crime without raising the danger of an accidental death by gunfire.

    Rick was too much like an arcade game. Who wants to have to memorise pixel perfect jumping levels full of traps? I'd rather something that takes longer to play like Empire, XOR, driller, swiv(amiga), starglider(PC version), metro cross, artic fox(PC version) the ST had some real stupid platform games like that

    Very little actually. Games are after the memory not the extra bits. It doesn't make playing the game any better but having more than 4GB of RAM makes content creation easier. This is not just for the game developers but also for mod developers as well which is quite a large market. Epic mentions that their content creation system needs more than 4GB RAM to effectivley work.

    I once had multitasking on my Vic20. I wrote a program that had two windows. The left one you could type text in. The right one was calculating primes. It used cooperative multitasking and probably didn't do it very well.

    Without memory expansion getting a webserver on a Vic20 would be hard. In it's real total of 5K RAM minus Screen minus Color, how much data could you serve. Your comment is 659Bytes or so, the frontpage of slashdot is over 30KB not including the images. Of course I'm sure some fool will accomplish it. If only I had a working VIC

    Seriously, name 1 of the top 10 linux distros that didn't borrow a big feature from another distro! It's impossible, because the community is so tight, and the information sharing is at it's peak. Don't you just love it when freedom of information makes things better for everyone? =)

    Like Slackware, what did it borrow from the other distros out today? Nothing.

    Actually they can't own words. They own a trademark on the words Office and Word in relation to their products. I can't sell a Word processor called word but I can sell a book called Word. Similary a file called OFFICEXP "might" break their trademark but that is trademark law not copyright law. You would have a very hard time in court trying to prove that the person was using the word OFFICEXP for a filename, in the sence that Microsoft has it trademarked.

    If service is so limited, why arent you starting up a wireless co-op, or any number of public avenues that would benefit the area,

    So easy to say but not very easy to do. These things take skills in networking and a fair bit of money. Not everyone has the time, skills or money to be involved in such a scheme. If you want to buy milk should you have to start your own dairy coop?

    If all you do is play quake sometimes and browse the web, just go back to a modem.

    Obviously you have never played online games that need low latency like quake and its brethren. Playing say Counter Strike, If you have a modem and others have cable you will lose more often. Skill is not enough in twitch games.

    On some older systems it was that the memory beyond a certain point could not be cached. Not that the cache had to be turned off. This is becuase the cache is designed to address a certain amount of memory, any more and the cache would have to use a different method. You could try adding more memory. If this isn't your problem then ignore what I said.

    A question I have been asking myself all this year. I suggest something in plastic actually but not with that flashing light stuff. A bright round red led to signify power and a round green one for the disk drive.

    A dark brown case for the purist. But I would prefer something more toy looking maybe blue or orange mixed with white or beige. Kinda like some sort of old nintendo/SGI mix. Definatly a rounded box, no brushed metal.

    If you look around at say case mod galleries on the net you might find some ideas

    It won't make much impact since most companies have entirely ditched RAMBUS technologies. You can buy a modern SD-RAM motherboard that runs as fast as a RAMBUS one.

    RAMBUS has these things going against it

    • Their patents are no longer submarine since the industry knows about them
    • A lot of customers recognise their name as a deceitful company
    • Modern tech is making their patents obsolete.
    • Their technology has a slim lead for its price
