Are you saying that planes were randomly flying around and God all of the sudden caused two of them to crash into the two towers?
I have to say that's quite a stretch from what I've heard. You see, I heard that there were these terrorists who took control of the planes and crashed them there.
    I guess I was mislead.
I guess too, that when I wake up tommorrow morning with a pain in my shoulder, that I will curse God and not the exercises I did the night before without stretching.

Good programmers work for good money. How can you expect good programmers to be involved in projects that don't pay good money... Easy answer. You can't.

I also like this post for this reason. I think it serves to rally all of the programmers in the world to get together and agree to write good code. See, I write sloppy code on purpose. Now that I know that I'm not supposed to, I'll start writing clean code.
I came up with a cheer too...:
Rah Rah Ree! We Like our Code Clean! Rah Rah Ro! Sloppy Code Must Go!

Exchange's calendar functions are the only reason that Exchange is so popular. If it were just the email functionality, there would be no difference between Exchange and any other program. Since many of the linux users here don't seem to be in corporate environments, or at least any higher than a programmer, they don't seem to notice how much middle and upper management rely on the calendar functions in Exchange. There are people in my company who wouldn't be able to function without these features. There whole day is scheduled around their calendar. Their calendar is set by someone else's meeting schedule. All they do is approve it and they are sent reminders of where to be and when... If you can't do that in another client, then the client will never be even close to replacing Outlook/Exchange.

I'm going to buy a ps2 in a couple of months (after the price drops) and I'll get all of my games on that. After all, they're going to start making the same games for both. My computer will now be for computer stuff....

Being a new linux user myself, all i know is that my video and sound card only have supported drivers for Red Hat. I liked mandrake a lot, but could get nothing working in it. The fonts in Konquerer were screwed up, drivers, etc... I think you'll find that the few vendors who support linux drivers start with Red Hat.

  7. The thing is on Hotmail Servers Shut Down by Code Red · · Score: 0, Troll

XP and beyond will have mandatory registration processes which will inevitably (spelling?) tick some people off. These will most likely be power users who will install on two to three computers at home who don't want to pay M$ all that money. Many of these ticked off users will become hackers (which may also be inevitable) as they find how easy it is through learning to be a power user under a different OS. So, M$ is creating a bunch of Ticked-Off Hackers who will probably just create more and more of these annoyances.

Our government has been playing catch-up in techonology ever since technology starting making big leaps. This year is just another year (a bad one, yes) where the government is trying to retain control by making wild stabs in random areas to please coorporations, who by coincidence, are the only sides the government are hearing right now. All of this will pass when the government, and society in general begin to realize the implications of what they are doing. If it doesn't, it can't shut down the free software movement. It definately can't shut down the anti-M$ movement. Those things will become stronger and more defiant. The government, except to those who are directly effected by it, should be a non-issue at this point.

Star Wars movies are not movies as many of you morons are reducing them too. A minor bump on the road (menace) does not deter my faith in the series. A title that you geeks don't like does not deter my faith in the series. I just can't compare one of the most influential events of my generation to any other mere movie. I think that Lucas has earned the credit you should give him. Even in Menace, he displayed things that we've never before seen. And remember, he is responsible for us being jaded to the special effects. Wake up and realize. You can't criticize a star wars movie and you can't criticise a star wars title. A Star Wars movie is (before production even) above every other effort Hollywood can even try. That's why the minor thing of a title appeared as a headline here and has gotten more responses than anything here lately (and in very little time). And that's why it'll be here pretty steadily until it comes out in the theater.

Ok...Ok...I don't think I'm a moron. I develop fairly complex web apps for a fortune 500 company (ok..windows based), but I'm not liking a lot of the things I'm reading about xp and such...so, I WANT to use linux. I mean I really do. So I installed Mandrake 8 this Monday night. Everything went great and the install was easily to par with windows. One problem. My aureal soundcard was not supported. My two isa soundcards gave me the same kind of problem. So...I installed RedHat 7.1. Not as pretty of an install...but still pretty good. My aureal card did not work, although it was supposed to under 6.1. But my ISA creative card did.
Then, I brought up shockwave.com, my girls like to play games on nick jr. The flash movies played, but shockwave didn't. Man... So, codeweavers is releasing support for shockwave in a couple of weeks. That's good...hopefully. Used wine..., most of the installations are hacks. Don't work very much. I like the effort though.
    Right now, I'm frustrated because I downloaded ksamba. I did a /.configure...ok so far...then a make...ok...then a make install...errors all over the place...ends with an error 1.

I'm not complaining. I knew the entry level would be high.

I'm just saying that I understand these school's dilemma. It can be frustrating starting out.

Are you saying that this guy is literally a sheep. If so, that's so amazing. I really would like to know more about this. I read once that they hooked these thingies to a cat's eyes and were able to see what a cat saw on a tv screen or something like that. I imagine that they could do the same with a sheep. Of course, sheep have wool and cats don't. But, I don't suppose that would matter as we are talking about eyes and not skin covering. I really like wool better than fur. It doesn't seem to come off on your couch as much. My dog's both have fur and when they sit on my couch, they leave a lot of it there. I will then go and sit on my couch and some of it gets on my pants. If my dogs had wool, that wouldn't happen so much, and besides, I could blame it on wool coming out of my pants and say that they were cheap. Ok..Ok..my pants aren't made of wool. They may be nylon. I don't think that nylon comes from either cats or sheep. I wonder where nylon comes from. I doubt that it grows. Maybe it's a mixture of two or three things. When I was a kid...and even now sometimes...and I would go to GodFather's pizza, I would mix all of the drinks together and make my own drink. Maybe this is like nylon. I don't really know, but I do like to mix all of the drinks at restaurants. I really appreciate the fact that they don't enforce any kind of rule restricting this. I think that if I did this with bottled drinks, the store owners and employees would get mad and probably charge me for all of the bottles instead of what was left in the bottle I took. I don't know any store owners, but I do know a few...sorry...where was I? That's the problem with this site in particular. I remember hearing about an operating system...I can't remember if it was linux based...called Microsoft Bob. This site reminds me of Microsoft Bob. I wish that they would include a hack that let you rename that operating system to Microfoot Bill. I know a guy named Bill who had small feet and I think it would be a good practical joke to name something after him and include reference to his small feet. If operating systems were more friendly to practical joking, I wouldn't have thought of that last thing, I would have just done it. Like that guy on SNL, he just did it. I don't remember why or what his name was. I think that it was Perry Ferrel. No, I think that Perry Ferrel was married to the guy from that band who killed himself. I don't think that people should kill themselves. I think that rock singers do a lot, but this isn't really about rock singers. I knew a singer once. He was attracted to men from the waste down and women from the waste up. I wasn't under the impression that you could mix the two so I suggested a...
