GTK+ on Windows suffers from a lack of developers and consistantly contains bugs that are *very* annoying. I doubt that WxWigets bound to GTK+ would sove anything. However, WxWidgets might make it easier to target "native" toolkits on several platforms (win32, GTK+, QT and OSX. Also, the last time I installed a GTK app, the WIMP theme could definitely be improved.
I would mod you up as informative if I could. Realistically, unless you're coming from somewhere near the metro (within 10 minutes), it's not going to be an easy commute. Maybe it wouldn't be to bad if you worked at the Pentagon. But if live out near Reston or something, and have to commute into the city, you have my sympathy.
I could care less about destroying a business model. However, there's an implicit agreement between the provider and user. The provider will not charge you for content, but the content will include some ads. By removing the ads, you're not holding up your end of the bargain.
There is no such agreement implicit or otherwise.
but I don't want to see you crying when more and more sites move to subscription or simply shut down
We also cut the size on our compiled files across the board with that one in our flagship product, sometimes as much as halving them compared to Visual C++ 6
Is that including the.net runtime that you have to distribute in addition to your compiled files?
I think that the biggest reason that music sales are declining is that the largest demographic in this contry has finally stopped buying lots of music. The boomers have finally repurchased all the music they have owned on vinyl, eight track and cassette. They are not interested in Ashlee Simpson, Usher, Coldplay or Creed. Most of their children have grown up, so they aren't spending a lot of money there either.

Why is 'the "veil between the worlds"' at it's thinnest? And who are you quoting?
For the rest of the world October 31 means absolutely nothing with respect to the cycles of nature. Is it harvest time in the southern hemisphere? the equator? Passing ancestors can be invited back at anytime. Pagan spirituality? You make me laugh. Try celebrating the solstice or equinox instead.
Because they will ask me to clean the spyware/pr0n hompage off their computer and I will tell them that I'm going to install a browser that won't let that junk though.
I know the post wasn't straight forward - But what it meant was that Andy Kessler has written at least 2 books. Slashdot has already reviewed a previous book and they will be reviewing his most recent book soon.
The only tricky part is that the first book title is underlined, is that because it's a link, a title, or both?
DS9 finished good? Glad to hear it! I couldn't make myself watch past two seasons.
Wow! 10 years ago I had a phone in my dorm room. What campus were you at?

Not impossible, just not ideal.
Have fun commuting!

Letting distributions handle their own package system sounds good... until you want to install something for which they have no package.
Great. Fscking. Analogy.
You Rock!
Oops, strike that last comment. Don't know where that came from... Maybe one too many Apple/Bonhead commercials have burned my brain.
Please explain to me why iTunes is one of the good guys? Is it because it's difficult to play iTunes files with other players and platforms?

Here's a whole bunch of suggestions
So, why will people switch?

IMO - To win the browser war is to have enough market share to make open web standards worthwhile
