  1. Could google slashdot slashdot? on Google Traffic Takes Down Web Site · · Score: 2, Interesting

Let's assume that for an hour google secretely replaces all href's in all results to slashdot.org, could half the internet take down slashdot? That'd be an interesting thing to try.

There you have it. Don't bother to read the rest, because if you're honest that's the only think the IPod has going for it compared to other technically a featurewise superiors players. You might not even think the IPod is cool, but everyone else does, which is what counts. I know a guy who doesn't even have a computer but just bought an IPod for its fashion value. I kid you not.

How do you know it only scans for banknotes? Maybe it scans your private pictures for known terrorists and sends the information during the next product activation? Next thing you know a SWAT team raids your house because your uncle Pete, who has a long beard, looks like a terrorist to PS CS.

What if you have pictures of chemical elements needed to make biological weapons on your computer? Does PS CS know you're a chemistry student?

Go ahead, make tinfoil hat jokes all you like, but do you know it's only limited to banknotes?

Photoshop scans every image, and even the clipboard, for banknotes. Since the algo seems to be pretty smart (rotation etc. doesn't matter) i guess it's rather slow. People have been reporting that CS is slower than PS7 on the adobe forums for a while, i guess now we know the reason.

It works both ways, it is detected as an external HD via USB mass storage protocol (also works in linux), you just move the files over. Then you can index them and access via ID3 database, or not, whatever floats your boat.

Notice that the IHP-300 supports USB OnTheGo, which probably means you can transfer pics from your cam directly to it via USB cable (no computer involved), that makes also sense considering it has a color TFT screen.

There are far better players out there, people just like to get screwed over by Apple (paying 2x for 1/2 the product) that's why IPod is so succesful, and because it looks so stylish and is considered so classy some people actually buy one without ever using it, just having it on display.

First of all we have what is called the "apple gayness" meaning you can only operate the IPod the apple way, not like you want to, meaning files get only accessed by id3 (not actualy directory structure or filename), also you cannot use it as an external hard disc without much hassle.

Other players are recognized as a HDD by just plugging them in, without installing a single driver (via usb mass storage protocol, also works with linux)! Copy over what you want and when you want. Access the files directly or via id3 database (ipod like).

Other players (think IRiver IHP-120) have the same size, DOUBLE the battery capacity, A LOT more features (like radio, optical in/out, regular in/out, recording, microphone, etc. etc.) come with a remote, a leather bag and whatnot.

Anyone who still buys IPod is a fashion victim.
