I'm surprised nobody mentioned this Tom's Hardware
article
regarding Windows gaming performance under Linux. Most interesting is the Quake III benchmarks of the native Linux and Windows clients.
I can see you now, sitting next to Captain Furious in the sequel to Mystery Men...Ben Stiller yelling his ars off while you comment on the preety font the arch villain has on his cape. LOL
Not if the DVD player is in the BIOS ROM. The FIC itx motherbords have this. This was mentioned a while back, including an article about Phoenix technologies embeding web browers in their BIOS's. ABIT has has a simple CD player in their BIOS for quite some time. No need to boot into the OS for playing CD's and MP3 CDR's.
Wasn't HP making claims to use and support Debian? I remember reading articles about HP picking Debian because it was non commercial and the most stable disto out there.
I wonder how long technology like this trickles down to the civilian sector. As a paramedic in New York City our protocol for trauma has always been scoop and run, the thinking being that a trauma patient needs a surgeon, not a paramedic or an EMT.
This technology could easily be used by EMS personell en route with a trauma patient to the ER.
I have a $1500 dollar table and arm. That doesn't include the price of the stylus. "Just as good sound"???? You obviously haven't even listened to a Hi-Fi analog setup to be making such comments.
My $2000 vinyl setup blows the socks off some $15K+ digital setups. Why? It's analog... Not truncated 16Bit willie nilly non-sense.
The best part?? I usually pick up pristine 1st pressings of vinyl discs at the thrift shop for 25 cents. 10 cents when they have "sales". And my Vinyl will out live me if properly taken care of. Guess you never heard of CD rot?
I just installed them on my debian box. Had them going in about 10 mins after converting the the rpm with alien. Had multiple GL screensaver windows open on my desktop and everything looked sweet.
Drivers won't run on debain sid, needs libc 6.2.
I highly recommend people send feedback constantly to let them know we appreciate these drivers.
Now if they would only port Raven Shield to linux.
New York City EMS: When you absolutley, positively, cannot call a cab.
I'm still playing Rogue Spear on my windows partition daily. I'm really looking forward to Raven Shield, which is based on the UT 2003 engine. The official RS site makes mention of native linux server software that will be included with the game. I only wish the would release a linux port of the game itself. Anyone else feel the same???
Drill Sarg: Whats your name scumbag?!?!?
Private: Sir, private woody, sir!
Drill Sarg: BULLSHIT! From now on your name is private STABLE!!! Do you like that name ?!?!?!?!
Private: Sir YES Sir!!!
Drill Sarg: Well there's one thing you won't like private stable, they don't serve gcc 2.96 and KDE3 on a daily basis in my mess hall!!!!!
Private: Sir, yes, sir!!!!
IBM budget R and T series laptops used to come with Savage video chipsets. Support for some of these chipsets, in particular DRI, was flaky at best. This was a common complaint on the mailing list. I recently noticed that ALL of the curernt thinkpads as of late come with ATI chipsets. From Radeon 7500 on the T series, to Radeon mobilty on the X series."Officially" not supporting linux on the thinkpads might not be that bad of a thing as long as they keep making the harware compatible.
I work for the new york city 911 system as a paramedic. Just finished a 16hr shift. Almost got off on time, but was assigned a cardiac arrest at 15 min to tour change. Took 45min to work up, dumped the whole drug bag into him, asystolic throughout. 10-83, not removed, left with NYPD.
Not bad for time and a half, plus a day off. I also got do some surfing via my thinkpad and nycwireless.net. I think I have the greatest job on the f*cking planet.
Come to New York City and see how many people will get out of your way when they hear your sirens and see your lights. When I negotiate the streets going lights and sirens people seem more preoccupied with finding that parkiing spot or a yellow cab picking up his fare. I have people kick my bus (that's slang for Ambulance) or yell at me because they find my siren offensive. One guy even spit at me. Meanwhile my partner in the back trying to set up a lidocaine drip or put an inch of nitro paste on a patient is hoping I don't jam the brakes on full because some knucklhead cut me off. The sirens at the hospital where I work are many dB's louder than the FDNY trucks, and people still don't give a shit. Hope it's not your mom in the back one of these days. Last guy I t-boned said it was my fault I hit him 'cause I was speeding.
FYI I was doing 25 in a 30 zone to a cinfirmed cardiac arrest.
woops, heres the link.

Nothing new to see here.....move along
Check out IBM's new L200p 21" LCD. 1600x1200 native, 400:1 brightness, and only 1349 USD w/ 3yr warranty.
This baby just came out last week.
$800 dollars for a 15" LCD? Maybe 5 years ago. Not only that, but a high quality 19" flat CRT will still only cost you $349.

I think you should be the first to help us humans out. I can sign you up right here.
If anything, mice are now available with more buttons than ever. Every scroll wheel mouse I have seen acts as a middle mouse button.
