Google for the Direct Rendering Infrastructure homepage. The Radeon Mobility open source driver supports OpenGL.
There's also a very comprehensive guide on all the Radeon naming schemes (Radeon LY, Radeon VE, Radeon LE, etc.) and outlines what is and is not supported by the open source drivers.
I can tell that using ATI's closed source modules on my desktop machine(Radeon 8500 LE), I haven't had one lockup yet, despite playing America's Army, BZFlag, Tux Racer, and Quake3 Urban Terror
I play Enemy Territory on the laptop (open source Xfree driver), despite it's mere 8mb of ram.
Apparently the Radeon Mobility is not supported under Linux either - this has made my search for a new laptop very difficult.
This statement is false. The Mobility Radeon has been supported since Xfree 4.2.
I have been using this chipset with a IBM Thinkpad X22 for almost a year now, and that's with GNU/Debian Linux.;) People using more cutting edge distro's have been using it longer.
You wan't a great, cheap, superlight laptop with decent 3d support?
The game I like to play didn't cost anybody a dime to develop, has been passed down from generation to generation, and when finished, provides ample amounts of satisfaction.

"Son! Don't do that, you'll go blind!" "Dad...I'm over here..."
Just picture Bill Gates with a fro, runnning amok on the street of Canada fully armed with thumb and index finger yelling:
"I will crush your little precocious head!"

Suspect? It's one of the easily misdiagnosed conditions, even by physicians. But if they actually do suspect you have a DVT,by then it's too late. The thrombus has already lodged. So you suffer with some shortness of breath and chest pain if it's a small clot, or they have to figure out where to stash your corpse if it's a reall big clot.;)
Here is some more info..
The part about DVT occurences in movie theatres scares me. Seems movies are getting longer every year, not to mention 20 minutes + of movie previews.
Once you read the reviews, you will quickly find out that this is a specialty monitor. Even with the four DVI connectors utilized, your max refresh rate is 41Hz.
This thing is great for medical imaging and scientific applications. Even most high end consumer cards don't support it's native resolution.
Now IBM used to make the T210. 2048x1536, DVI, analog, composite and component, with built in PIP. Cheaper than a T221 (IIRC $3000) and much more suited for home use.
But, alas, it has been discontinued.
BTW, there's a T221 up for bid on IBM's eBay global financing site. Starting bid only $1999.00
This sort of coast to coast communication is done everyday with ham radio. It's called packet radio. Hell, it's even done with voice repeaters. I usually chat with the fols in Florida using nothing but my 600mw Radio Shack Dual Band HT. Yup, thats right, 600mw radio and three double AA batteries.
I clicked on the link, and like many other posters, I found out that it's not available yet.

No big deal, it might take a while to update the site.
But did anybody else notice the almost $100 price difference on the same EXACT machine, but preloaded with Windows XP?
Is this really what you save buying a machine minus the MS Tax?
If so, I say to you Mr. Paperclip! You go to Hell! You go to Hell and you die!

A: Yes. All Girl Scout cookies® are kosher.

Please visit the IBM eBay Store
Laptops are brand new in the box, full warranty, are almost 50% retail, and you are buying directly from Big Blue.
The catch? They're slightly behind the newest models, but hey, with linux support, that's the best way to buy hardware.
Wass all this hogwash 'bout InSync and Russians and Mars waterbeds?? Soil in my pockets?
You trying to con me mista. Yes sir.

I see this as great way for all those laid off .com peeps to start a new career in the hi-tech-mobile-entertainment profession. ;o)
Maybe when the company goes belly up they can patent a "Jump to conclusions Mat". You know, like that guy in Office Space.

Ok, so I can;t spel.
I don't mean to troll, but just try getting any new release here in NYC for 13 bucks.
I much prefer hitting the thrift shops and picking up some clean vinyl for a buck a piece.
it as about Prada, Ducati, and Vidal Sasson hair gel.
I don't think I saw not even one of Mr. Reeve's hairs move one centimeter during all those fight scenes.
whats stopping IBM from making these chips available
with an appropriate motherboard for folks who would like to run linux/bsd/ on them?

Some places we could start:
Methadone Clinics
Blood & Crips Hangouts
Recent Stabbing/Shooting/Jumper Down/ locations
Train tracks of dimly lit urbab train station.

I remember a movie (To Live And Die in L.A.) in which William Dafoe plays a counterfeiter.
Anyways, he uses a bunch of poker chips and a clothes dryer to give the bills he just minted, -como se llama? - that vintage GAP jean look.
I'm sure if there's plenty of trick of the trade.
This article reminds me of another movie, a young boy of the asian persuasion shouting "Fifty Dorrar Bill!" lol
and old tale about a couple of gas stations and a guy named Rockerfeller.
