Among other things, Kunze points out that Free software projects could be effectively discouraged from releasing software if software producers are required to provide warranties -- imagine trying to provide warranties on all the packages available to Debian users, for instance, or every bit of software included with Mandrake Linux.
You want Microsoft to be held financially liable for bugs, yet Free Software should have no warranty if something blows up in the field? Or is this another "Tough Crap...no one made you use free software" instance.
Sounds like the kettle calling the pot black if you ask me...
I just looked at the ScummVM site http://scummvm.sourceforge.net/ and without looking at the FAQ I can't determine what the project is either. It just says in the summary "Regardless of the bugs it is still possible to play some games all the way through to the end. Still other games do not load at all."
No where up front in any summary does the site indicate that this is their own work derived from legal reverse engineering. Whoever is coding this project knew that sooner or later they would get an email about this, yet instead of posting clearly on the front page that this is legal, they make it sound as if you can play the games without orignal content.
If I were LucasArts back off, but request that they make it clear what the project is in the main summary that everyone sees when they first load the page.
I don't understand why people are so opposed to having viewing habit information gathered. All the cable companies will be pushing targeted advertising in the next year or two, how will the cable companies be able to deliever targeted ads if no one wants their viewing habits looked at?
How are cable companies supposed to gather the data they need? I'd like to know...
Both movies had lame dialogue and wooden acting. They both had a character that chewed up the scenery everytime the character was on screen(Jar Jar/ Willem Dafoe). Spider-Man had lame-o effects and a piss poor ending, while star wars had better effects and a piss poor ending.
At least star wars didn't have the oft repeated line "with great power comes great responsibility":) But Star Wars did have a laughable love story...so I guess they're about even.
But I think I've got Clones nailed down into a single comment..."Attack of the Clones is Pearl Harbor in Space". Both have lame love stories and bad acting, and in the end...everything goes boom!
"I am a Linux newbie and have used Macs VERY little, but, those OSes / platforms are a whole lot more interesting to follow than Windows. Oh? What's that? New Windows release? So soon?"
So I take it, you get wet in the pants every time a new kernel comes out? They release those what...every couple weeks?
The reason is bombed was people were expecting a final fantasy themed movie.
What they got was a preachy/theological movie that really wasn't all that exciting. I mean they were really grasping for straws when they gave the chick "another" 8th spirit. Just soo lame. It could have been a cool "Aliens" type movie, but it ended up being lame.
They should have used the original title that they intended to use..."Gaia"
After I saw FFXI running on a development XBox, I had high hopes. But then Sony had to buy up stock in Square:(
Oh well, I guess I'll have to make do with a PS2 version of FFX and FFXI, unless Sony decides to try and prove they have a better system and allow the game to come out on the XBox(as it was about 40-50% complete already).
I won't be in line for it, but I'll probably pick it up after the holidays.
Wasn't this iteration of FF supposed to require the hard drive addon? Or was that FFXI? Anyone know?
It's a shame Panasonic chose not to release it to North American store shelves, but the import will soon work just as well.
Please try and get your facts straight. I was previously reported on all the gaming websites that Nintendo didn't want the Panasonic DVD-Cube coming to the U.S.. Nintendo intended that the Gamecube be solely a video game console, not a Console/DVD player here in the States.
I for one am quite upset that the CO-OP play mode has been pretty much dumped in all games since Doom/Quake, in favor of mindless deathmatch and its variants.
While I do enjoy some team deathmatch(Day of Defeat), I really don't see how the word "multiplayer" became synonymous with "Deathmatch".
I really hope they choose to include CO-OP with this game, Return to Castle Wolfenstein dropped the ball big time by not including some sort of CO-OP mode.
Medal of Honor rocked on the Playstation, so I figured CO-OP would be a given, especially for this type of FPS. Oh well, here's to hoping...
Dude It's a demo. The game still has another 3 weeks before it goes gold.
Remeber the first Demo for RtCW? It sucked big time. Even with my miniscule ping everything was lagged and frankly I just didn't see it being any good.
As of now, I've yet to play the multiplayer component of the full game, but the Single Player mode sucks big time(I still want to finish it before I play any multiplayer).
I'm downloading this Medal of Honor demo because I loved the game on the PS, and I think it will be pretty good. Hopefully the Single Player mode will rock...
Most importantly...I want CO-OP play!!!! If this game doesn't include it, I probably won't buy it.
So how does Joe Sixpack who doesn't know what source code is fix a bug that's causing his box to hang?
Giving a developer source code is ok, but I doubt your mom would be able to fix a code issue.

Electric cars are for hippies who care about "mother earth". Tell your husband to grow some balls and buy a real car.
20mpg city + 28mph highway
I don't understand why someone would hack into a satellite and disrupt broadcasting other than to say "Ha we're more l33t than the goverment!"
Of course I never understood why people feel the need to comprimise system security "for the good of all people"

Take that you Open Source Nazi's! Another win for the Closed Source community!
It makes me warm inside know you guys won't get support from IBM to run your Penguin shit OS on IBM Laptop hardware.
Something like that already exists dude.
You plug the PCB into a box which has RCA out's to the TV and has small arcade sticks as controllers. Fits nicely on the lap.

I would rather play the upcoming Star Wars MMRPG, than Final Fantasy. It's also XBOX exclusive.
Hey are you the same guy that posts on ls1.com?
I have every GBA currently released that's almost 278...I have not paid a dime for any of them directly.
I bought the GBA linker and now the bridge(for GBC and GB) which brings my total to over 500 games I didn't pay for!!!
I also develop games as well, so I am using it for some legal usage...
I'm a QA guy and I fix code bugs on a regular basis.
I'll keep my Dual P3 1ghz machine in my 3 foot tall server case. It weighs about 100 pounds with all the components in it, but it's worth it.
I don't get why people want this specific game released?
If you're going to make such a fuss over this game, why not sign petitions to get Unreal Tournament's source released? It's just as old as this game.
Why doesn't anyone make a fuss for the laundry list of games that no one generates profit from anymore?
In case you're wondering, you can still buy this game in the stores, so it's still generating profit for the company(albiet marginal profit).
I have AT&T cable modem service, cable TV, and phone service. It worked out to cheaper in the long run to have it all-in-one.
I'm not paying anywhere near $230, but still I've yet to be disappointed with the service.
Starscream was the coolest.

Hate to tell you, but that game was canned a few years ago.

Although I'm sure that it will pop up tomorrow on the front page
What's the point of even having the "submit story" link if they aren't going to accept a newsworthy topic?
