hmm, I saw it in the theater in burbank, guess the same as you back in mid june that summer. The image quality rocked, the sound kinda echoed in the theater though, it's kinda long, guess they didnt have hte delay set right or something.... or being late and putting me in hte back. BUT, the lack of scratches and dust was made up for by strange verticle striping... maybe a side effect of the lcd projector... it didnt detract too much though. But the DVD has a much better picture:) stuck here in Austin don't think I'll be sing AoC on digital unless I make my way up to plano sometime maybe this summer for a 3rd or 4th viewing.
over the past many years I have noticed something along these lines. Cordless/cell phones, remote controls, etc... I have always held them with my main fingers wrapped around them and pushed the buttons with my thumb. However, I have always observed my father holding the device in one (left) hand, and pushing the buttons with his index finger from his right hand. Sometimes it seemed painful to me to see him need two hands to use such simple devices (even palm pilot). I'd prolly cringe if he picked up a gameboy set the thing on the table and used his index fingers to duke out a long game of tetris. I personally did not grow up with gameboy / console systems everyday, but I did play them at my friends' houses. So maybe it's an early learning/use of the thumbs to strenghten them. But then again, my thumbs are complete klutzes on the piano/keyboard, but that's cuz they're rotated to be almost in line with my fingers as opposed to being opposed to them.
there's probably many other every day things that we use our thumbs for that the previous generations can't, maybe not due to physical ability, but maybe a mental block - "gee, I never thought of using my thumb for that! you, know it makes sense and it's easier!" who knows? Maybe I'll ask my dad about it over Easter...
what I don't get is how Disney could have released The Jungle Book in 67 without having violated the copyright even if it expired in '66. I mean, how long did it take to animate such films back them? a few years I think, like 5 or so....even now they still take at least 2 years. So the whole project had to have started about '61 or so. Does that mean that we can do whatever we want with someone elses work as long as we don't release it until the copyright expires?
actually with car batteries, if you buy a new one they'll charge you a coupla extra bucks, and give the money back if you bring in the old one, that way it encourages you to bring in the old one so it can be recycled/disposed of properly.
but when you get an oil change, there's a small environmental fee added to dispose the waste oil/ other fluids properly.
why the f#@k do i want to have any analog cables going to my stereo in the first place...ick. gotta have me digital all the way to the stereo's DACs then I can have the amp f$@k up the signal in its clean nearly noise free way...gotta get it analog sometime to get it to the speakers..... but no pops or chirps from my sound card, or hum from an analog line in for me, haha!
This article should have been listed as humor, not gaming...what a piece of shit, it didn't go anywhere or even even make sense, not to mention all the errors that everyone else here has mentioned. Does anyone do research anymore? Most tech review articles seem to have been shitty 2 years ago and have been getting worse. And Tom's joint has gone from the best to the utmost worst site i've ever read (many many of the past year's articles go nowhere, make no point, don't even give any information that I can't read off the box, or hte manufacturer's marketing site. ugh, rant.
I'd hate to say this to all you people....I fully support open source software....but you guys are getting the wrong fucking idea. Cracking the decryption scheme and distributing it is going to destroy the format. The issue is not being able to play DVDs on Linux. If you want to do that then buy a fuckign lisence to use some of the code and write a closed module to play. Just like what they have to do to write stuff for windows... you people are stealing.... if it was released under an open source license then that's a different story. Besides, software playback is crap....with Creative releasing DXR2 drivers and the whole work on Matrox's drivers, you can control the decoders and never see the decryption.....
Grow the fuck up and stop whining when you can't get something for free!
This is a poem I wrote a whole 5 days before all this stuff happened. Luckily I'm in college now, if I'd been in High School and a teacher or someone found it, boy I'd have been in the slammer or something. It expresses my feelings about society, both things that linger from High School and things I see everyday in College. (My brother made a picture that I wrote the words for)
Emotion The ether tugging at your subconcious pushing, pulling, helping, hurting. An event, more torture, nagging endlessly. Why? A world of faceless automotons, grinding at the wheel. Forcing you to adapt, otherwise: pain... suffering. A crowd surrounds you, yet you've never felt lonlier.
his name is.....Neo!
Tires and Coke go flat, batteries die! ;)
1800 stores in texas, sounds about right.

well, I do, find my other post, the claims seem perfectly logical to me, except for maybe the misuse of mutation/evolution.....

... suffering.
(My brother made a picture that I wrote the words for)
Emotion
The ether tugging at your subconcious
pushing, pulling, helping, hurting.
An event, more torture, nagging endlessly.
Why?
A world of faceless automotons, grinding at the wheel.
Forcing you to adapt, otherwise: pain
A crowd surrounds you, yet you've never felt lonlier.
Just wanted to share this with the world
