Eric Schmidt Employment Agreement
We have entered into an employment agreement with Eric Schmidt, our chief executive officer. The agreement provides that Eric will receive a base salary of $250,000. Eric was also granted an option to purchase 14,331,708 shares of Class B common stock at an exercise price of $0.30 per share pursuant to this agreement and was permitted to purchase 426,892 shares of Series C preferred stock at a purchase price of $2.3425 per share.
How long does he have to wait until he can sell? I'm sure he's got the date circled on his calendar.
From the yahoo.com link: The Mountain View-based company earned $105.6 million, or 41 cents per share, on revenue of $962 million last year. Google got off to a fast start this year, with a first-quarter profit of $64 million, or 24 cents per share -- more than doubling its earnings of $25.8 million, or 10 cents per share, at the same time last year.
It's refreshing to see an internet company actually pulling a good profit. Hopefully google will be able to use the money it raises to actually grow their business, and not do as so many other companies have done and just go out and spend their new cash on worthless crap (*cough*mp3.com*cough*). It'll also be very interesting to see how an auction-based IPO works for a company with as much interest as google. Interesting quotes from the SEC form: We will not shy away from high-risk, high-reward projects because of short term earnings pressure. It is important to us to have a fair process for our IPO that is inclusive of both small and large investors.
Easy.... all of those wonderful Claria (Gator) products!

where people have to drive/walk/take the bus to a designated voting station, register, and use a computer to vote. If you're going to have electronic voting, just throw a secure link online and let people vote through a web interface
It's official, we're lazy bastards. If people aren't voting because they have to "drive/walk/take the bus" then it's a good thing they aren't voting, because if they don't have enough conviction to overcome the miniscule amount of inconvenience involved it's really doubtful they have much of a clue about what is going on around the world.
Voting shouldn't be tough, but it should at least require a small amount of effort.
Probably get flamed as being full of shit for posting this, but oh well. In all honesty, I don't buy any games that I don't download first. I know it's illegal, I understand that. But right now I don't have enough cash to throw at every game I find interesting. I know companies always release demos of their games, but demos these days are typically so limited that they are almost worthless. Great, I've seen the best level of the 30 that you have in your game.
The end result for me will be me spending less money on games because I can't risk throwing $50 on some game that I'm going to find out really sucks. Oh well... I've been finding Scorched Earth really damn amusing lately anyways. My Death's Head will 0wn you. The Mother of All Games
I think that the NSA will win this one by falling back on the oldest hacker trick in the book: social engineering
Give one of the system admins a call, saying you're one of their higher ups and you need something done
Of course the NSA are much sneakier bastards than that... so we'll see what they come up with. I'm just hoping the cadets are aware of that very valid tactic.
My mentioning that I'm German was just tongue-in-cheek linguistic glue, but now I do find it interesting that being cautious regarding a company in the middle east is unacceptable behaviour if you're German.
The issue is this: why does it matter that from Germany? The only reason one would point it out, and state that they then have a unique viewpoint, is if they wanted to draw attentiont to that fact and imply that them being from Germany would make them not want to trust an Israeli company.
He didn't just object to the service being Israeli in origin, and you know it
You seem to miss the part in his post where he mentions that he is from Germany. What else does that imply?
Nice try, though. Now shut the fuck up and let the grownups talk.
Interesting, do "grownups" such as yourself always talk behind a veil of anonymity? I wasn't persuaded by your post until I read your powerful use of the word "fuck". But now... now I feel you must be right.
The observations in his post are both accurate and appropriate.
This is accurate and appropriate: I'm German, so I feel qualified to answer this comment. Given the choice between an Israeli webmailer and Google, I'd choose Google.
Without taking into account features, performance, etc. etc. he picks Google based on the fact that the other one is from Israel. This is accurate? How is the fact that he is from Germany qualify him to post that?
But don't let that stop you from histrionic stereotyping of someone you don't even know. I won't, especially when responding to someone who is doing the same. The only thing I know about him is what they posted. So, I will base my views on the poster based on the only source of information I have: what they provided me.
but whenever I hear about software from Israel, it's either espionage or war related
Hello?

Just a bit of info:
Sun's stock (SUNW) is now hovering at about 4.00 (down slightly today).
Here's SUNW over the past 5 years
Yeah, that's likely far in the future but 50 years ago a desktop computer was impossible.
No... you just needed a really big (and strong) desk.
yep, that's why the band invented Kazaa

How does that relate? The HOPE conference is not a huge warez trading fest. It's focus is (theoretically) technology and exploration.
The government "crackdown" wasn't on hackers and crackers, just those who commited huge amounts of copyright infringement.
where's the pr0n?

Guess he's never heard of ICQ?
Well, it's good to see that there's still a strong, underlying, anti-semetic feeling in Germany.
I thought Germans were so "progressive". Hmm...
They're going to get an ass beating, Montreal style
