I mean come on, living in Austin, there are no game developers here on anything. I live in Minneapolis! That means I know all the inside secrets of Target, 3M, and Northwest airlines, right?
Sorry, that's just speculation. The Aug 3rd date was first put forward by ebgames (who is always accurate as we know) and then every other retailer jumped on that date.
Yeah... don't quite get the excitement over this one. This type of thing has been done for quite some time. There's much much better hardware available for this type of tomfoolery. Although I guess now that it's with a iPod it makes it newsworthy.
First post: That assumes I remember to run Windows Update... Why do I have to do it myself Microsoft! I want automatic and forceful patch downloading and installation!
Second post: I use Windows Update religiously and do not have the auto update feature running

I know. I'm a big Armin Van Buuren fan. Unfortunately I missed him last time he was in town. I just caught Tiesto live last week and it was pretty damn good. Best thing about the electronic scene is that tickets to the shows are so much less expensive (at least by me - 5 hours of music for $20 to see Tiesto and two top-notch local DJs)
First of all, they try to hide their true place of origin by calling themselves "Dutch" when they're from Holland. Second, all they seem to export are wood shoes (sabotage anyone?) and DJs that cause kids to take drugs. Evil Hollanders!
And it's gotten even worse with Mac OS 10.4 because now: Linux copies Windows which copies Mac which copies Linux (I'm sure SCO Unix gets copied in there somewhere too)
Uh oh... doesn't that sort of relationship end the universe in some sort of giant BLIP!?
speaking of size... What are the dimensions on this thing? For all we know it's about 2ft X 4ft (or.6096m x 1.2192m for the metric among us (they're everywhere!))

Quake
The QuakeWorld upgrade supported up to 64 players (I believe).
The article clearly states that Doom3 will not be released before Quakecon. The official release "date" for Doom3 is Summer.
So, Doom3 in summer (June ~21st - Sept ~21st), after Quakecon (August 12-15), narrows it down. Most people expect a late August release.
if you had RTFA you would know that this is the first time that people will have played Doom3 multiplayer (even the leaked beta didn't have that).
Doom3 is still going to be released after quakecon. This tournament doesn't affect the release date.
