...ok so the same rules apply to the Windows systems, since they are the favorite targeted platforms for the virus and trojan writers, the thought that windows sucks is based on missleading data, ignoring that viruses can infect ANY system if the writer so desired to target it and there was a bug that could be exploited....(unix was out there getting viri for years before Billy had PURCHASED dos)
Some (m$ hate bandwagon riders) would call this post 'trolling' while others would understand it as THE TRUTH.

Face it, millions of us 'nerds' would be jobless if we didnt have to fix billie's stuff all the time. He has kept me in the money for the last 20 years. Would ya rather MS started to write linux code, think of what would(nt) happen then...(the first linux BSOD)
Besides, after awhile the clients move over to unix servers, and life gets easier...
Try Grisoft's AVG antivirus. It will work side by side with Norton's or Mcafee.
It has caught a lot of viri that the 2 others skipped right over.
Linux users will like it too...as many experts will tell you, run 2 antivirus packages. (odd that the two biggest won't work on teh same box at once...)
How about they all get shipped to the USA's luxury resort in Cuba for a few months, while the citizens ponder the problem of the politicians breaking the very laws they enforce on us...
Any entity within the US borders that publicly discloses an agreement, then violates that agreement after the other party has fullfilled its part of the agreement, gives the violated party and each individual involved, the legal recourse to seek DAMAGES, and remedy via punitive fines.
FTC is inviting multiple LAWSUITS, if not a huge class action suit.
The public party and each member involved should have a lawyer contact the FTC legal dept about the address to send the lawsuits too....
"I saved 10 bucks by seeing Matrix Revolutions with chinese subtitles. It was barely worth watching for free (as I suspected), so I will definitely not be catching it in the theatere or on DVD."
So you stole the movie, to see it, and feel that you did nothing wrong?
If you wanted to know if the movie was worth seeing, you could have waited for it to be in a "dollar" theatre, read reviews, or asked a local that seen it. You instead chose to steal it, watch it, and most likely give it away.
Hollywood was not the only ones you stole from, the theatre's were deprived of income too.
Twisted logic such as yours, is why they are doing this, it isn't just to push crap content, its to stop people from PIRATING. If the content is CRAP then it wont sell at the full price, it is reduced... you instead added to the equation by giving them more reason to need overhead to pursue a thief with a group of lawyers...(money that could have been put to better use in producing quality content)
I personaly stopped buying cd's and tapes in protest against the METHODS used by the RIAA, but DO NOT download pirated content just to convince myself I am making a point...
Sorry, but to think that using a set of terms to describe the mass killing of insects is proper if it is in reference to the mass murder of the Jewish people, is WRONG!
I live in the midwest, have family that are farmers, and at NO time has this set of terms you claim are used, been uttered...
"..., even though "Gestapo" and "Jews" sure seems to illustrate the concept nicely."...could it be someone has their own hate isssue here, and not the agriculture community as they claim.
Found that Xwall, stops most of the spam from reaching our servers. No need for another protocol, but I recommend not using the open relay list as part of the filter. So many of the recent viri have caused even lans without an actual email service, to be placed on the list. Cheap and easy to configure. I am sure others have tools that help on the server level.
In the Kansas City Missouri (misery to those that live here) Comcast is bulleting routers. If it was just mine that had the problem, and it was happening at random, it would be my thoughts that it was my equipment, but when it happens to several locations at the same time, it is a clear attack on the use of routers by coNcast. I agree with the idea of getting the most utility for your dollar and have notified coNcast of the cancellation, and am waiting for DirectDSL to test my phone lines (not a worry, I used to have dsl until the use of PPPoe was enacted by SWB).
While it is slower, it allows the use of servers and one can run their own DNS, at only an increase of $5 dollars a month then what I pay for coNcast shitty service. Speed only helps if one can use the high speed, if it is not usable for more then pop-up adds and looking at what the provider deems PROPER usage (censorship) then to hell with that service, less speed for quality is my motivation. CoNcast habit of lies, using third party customer support in another country, and a complete disregard for providing a quality survive, is the trend. All we can do as consumers is NOT pay or use such a business and then the quality services will survive. The shitty provider's will then either practice quality or go out of business.
...and it is a lie, I and a freind tried it free of charge after we went back to the regular speed, since it never got any faster, and at times would not work at all. Comcast (aka coNcast) are a joke, check dslreports.com for revues from the masses and you will see they are one of the lowest rated if not the lowest rated service. now if they could offer this providers speeds, and charge the same price as the pro package, and it WORKED, I might stay with them, but till then, I'll change to a dsl line, coughcoughcomcastsuckscoughcough...
...commercial systems such as Windows cost money.I have no means of fixing the bug myself so I rely on the vendor.
ok, so you write your own fixes for the kernel, the applications, and anything else in linux??? I doubt it, you wait for the developer to do so, JUST LIKE A MS PRODUCT. The problem isn't that MS has bugs, or that it cost money, it's the bash-MS bandwagon has too many misinformed ppl on it....
...geee, could it be that the virus writers targeted a microsoft product, could it be that those same virus writers prefer *nix and thus don't write virus's for it, could be...
virus's have been around longer then microsoft, and most were writen for UNIX, now they have the "I HATE MICROSOFT" bandwagon to spur their writing to attack MS software...
the statement of blaming the application writer for the virus writen by the VIRUS WRITER, is the same as blaming the gun for the shooting, instead of blaming the PERSON that pulled the trigger...
...the problem is the virus writer, not the OS or the APPLICATION...
The slashdot bandwagon against m$ still has not made a valid statement against MS, without ignoring the problems of linux and WHY it isn't mainstream as their hearts desire. It's the mind set that linux is for the 3733t, and to hell with anyone that doesnt want to read man pages and how-tos for weeks before and after an install to be able to us it, that is its major downfall. By use I mean in an average home.
The linux bandwagon has to first get down off that hi-horse, face their own issues, attempt to HELP instead of bash, use the knowledge to create a linux distro the mainstream can use (mandrake is close), before pointing a finger and screaming rants about mopopoly and bugs. Is it important to follow YOUR way to do things? NO. Is it important to CYA? YES! In business you have to, so MS has done nothing wrong by having a bug in code and releasing a patch that corrects these bugs and a few others all at once AFTER testing it.
Despite the errata page, Linux leetest still claim linux has no bugs, if you have 1 roach then there are a thousand you dont see (so why declare the bug and how to use it to the world?)...
MS bashing is getting real old, and crying wolf reminds me of a little story that could teach a lesson...
go back to the bible thumping, and leave the real world to us, dip shits and morons like this guy are why birth control exsist...
so all you girls out there, remember he wont look at you if you get nekked, and he wont touch you until you are married to his sorry ass...(as if that would ever happen)
"Any way you look at it, it is totally irresponsible to make software whose default installation has an easy administrator access exploit. If this was not a computers/software/internet issue, MSFT would be on the losing end of many lawsuits."
Well I ask you this, if the passwords are already preset to a default, wouldnt that leave the same problem?(a known password is as bad as none) The only way to stop the exploits is to prosecute those that write the attacks used. Forcing the installer to place a password for all the admin tools and db access would only help until the exploit writers (viri, trojans, worms) are behind bars. The excuse of "the programmers should never have let the application be so easily exploited" is bullsh-t, if the world had to secure against all forms of exploit and attack, the software would take days to load and hours to refresh a screen. The problem is that people will attack anything they feel is a challenge and see if they can get away with it. (tell a kid he cant have a cookie from the jar and place the jar on the fridge, the kid will find a way to get the jar to get the cookie inside it)
more ms bashing food for the bandwagon riding linux noob kiddies (and the self apointed bandwagon hate-mongers from slashdot)
slashdot, the ms bashing site, where linux flaws and bugs are ignored...
if the mods want to ban me, fine, only shows I am right, and the only defense they have is censorship of the TRUTH!
