The Substance of Style

Ok, why is this article on slashdot? I would have to say we are some of the most stylishly challenged. Personally I think people with all these "slick" looking clothes are just so insecure that they need to look "cool" to feel good about themselves. I shop at target, wal-mart, sams, occassionally old navy, although I hate their damn commercials. I wear what is clean and not too wrinkled and I own 3 pairs of shoes (everyday, running, and dress). I guess i'm just as "hip" as the author of this waste of paper book.
Well first off, the electrons aren't sitting there spanking it. They are rotating around the nucleus, or atleast so we think. Therefore there is an outward force from that. Other than that I have no idea. But I have take enough quantum physics and other bullshit advanced science classes in college to realize that nobody knows wtf is going on. There is no explanation for most things. It just all works. Also our model for the atom could be completely wrong, along with everything else we "know" today. The reason for us using it is because it works. And of course when it breaks down and stops working they change the laws to make it work. Right now a bunch of people are looking for something that links the subatomic and quantum world to our own. If you interested, you should read shit about string theory. Of course it is pretty much religion at this point since there is no proof of it, but all science starts that way, so who knows.
Even what is left of his now fully decomposed bag of bones would smell better than most of the professors I had while getting my Electrical Engineering degree.
With its 4 usb 1.1 ports that run at a whopping combined throughput of 11mbps. I can add 4 external hds that end up having the same throughput as my old floppy drive.
Oh and what are the gamers called then? They are consumers, they are just not a large chunk of the consumers. Anyways, i hope s3's chip does well since the prices ati and nvidia want for their gfx cards is just bs. 1/3 to 1/2 of your pc cost is gfx card. And then of course if your spending a lot on a gfx card then your the type who will need to upgrade every year, which just adds up to a bunch more bullshit. I guess i'm just bitter because i'm poor.
Please, this is just bs. First off anybody can build one of these, schematics and tips and even a forum on getting help from others can be found at www.fusor.net . And this guys wins a science fair for no original thought. I guess the judges didn't know how to use google.
Well, i graduated back in dec 2002 with an Electrical Engineering degree from a top tier school just to be SOL when trying to find a job. So i figured I would try uncle sam. Oh boy was it loads of fun. I always thought recruiters were supposed to hound you every day to get you to join, but the Air Force Recruiter Staff Sgt. Darby in Austin, TX is the laziest mofo I have met yet. I had to call him every damn day for weeks at a time to get a hold of him. He never returned calls, and was never at his office. Anyways, i put up with it for awhile, got all my paper work done and aced the shit outta the AFOQT. However, after being ignored and having to go through other recruiters in San Antonio, I just got fed up and said screw it. According to the air force website they have a critical shortage of Electrical Engineers and now I know why. It isn't like I would be getting payed a shitload or even have that great of a job. All I have to say to the AF is thank you for treating me like shit before I joined. If i would have hit the brick wall after I committed I would have been stuck with their bullshit for 4 years.
Kevlar does stop the bullet. It just takes many many layers of it. The ceramic plates you are talking about are used to stop rifle rounds because kevlar itself cannot. Kevlar is used to stop handgun ammunition.
No, this has got to be a pretty stupid question. The point of college is not to just learn facts and how to problem solve. It is about social interaction, and lab work. Maybe I am just wierd, but I got a whole lot more from my lab classes than I got from classes that were like goto class listen to prof, go home read book, take test.

Yes considering a lot of our encryption is based on prime numbers. So you figure a simple way to get around it and you make a lot of encryption outdated and useless. So yes, it is important.

i'm sorry, but i can't help but laught at this. We are nowhere near the computing power of the human brain. Sure you could make a pc with the same amount of transistors as the brain has neurons, but that doesn't mean they equate to each other.
Anyways, i do agree in part with you. I think that software is behind hardware, but since hardware is atleast several decades off, software still has plenty of time to catchup, all they need is a break through or 2.
Haha, i can't help buy laught at this. I'm assuming you haven't taken a superscalar computer architecture class. Testing cpus is a bitch. It is just as hard if not harder than testing software. Sure there are only so many instructions in a cpu, but you have to deal with multiple combinations of instructions and what order they occur. To fully test a modern cpu in every possible state with every possible set of input, it would take more than your life time. Testing the cpu is equally as important as design. People who don't know dick about it blow it off as some easy task, but it is very time consuming and can be mentally taxing to create the best set of test vectors.
He said he wants it to last 20 years. Princos aren't what you use if you want to keep the data very long. I suggest using dvd-rs also, but spend about $1.50 each for good quality media. That princo crap is garbage and will not last 20 years. Try brands like verbatim or tdk for more reliability. I myself have burnt hundreds of dvds and haven't had any problems with them as long as they are on decent media. However about a year ago when I first started burning I thought all blanks were the same and bought the cheap ones and now many of those dvds are no longer readable or skip in several places.

Damnit, they are stopping access to the only clit most of us on slashdot can get.

Man, us techies are one good looking bunch.
Obviously you didn't learn how to spell in collEge.
Mod this shit up. Actually got a chuckle on this one.

Oh yes, you are so much better than us stupid folk. You are just so learned. Anyways, please remove the stick from your ass.

Only joystick my gf can touch is mine.
I don't know what pcs have to do with boobies but if you say so.
Well, time to update my hit list then.

Of course the porn won't look nearly as good on those shitty Apple II screens as it does on modern monitors, but that is what your imagination is for.

Yay now we can listen to the movie but not watch it because WMP is stupid and can't ever d/l the right codecs.
