the fact is a lot of people like these reality this, real life that, american wannabe type shows and few people like TLC, Discovery, Travel etc. If you're into computer gaming chances are you won't like these soap or reality type shows. My gf will sit in front of the tv and watch all these crappy shows and I'll watch techtv or cnn or sports/cartoons. I think what the article is trying to get at is gamers don't watch tv at all, so it doesn't matter what is on they just don't care anymore. They are ignoring the medium.
What's the big story anyways? some idiot got fired. people get fired for all kinds of reasons, some dumb like peeing behind the office building (what are you staring at?) and some not. So some poor fool got fired. sucks to be him. Some people don't even get the opportunity to be in a position to be fired
first thought that I got. So what? What's the point of cyring over a bunch of dead fossils? If we didn't use it it would still be dead fossils. Many have said the calculations are fradulent and I agree, the numbers in the article will look fishy to anyone who has completed high school. 4 tons of dead animals per gallon is far better than 4 tons of dead animals of nothing. It is mother nature that is inefficient, and if cars were even more efficient than they are now, it will wouldn't make any dent in how inefficient nature is.
I have to agree with you. if patching constantly is uncceptable to you, find a new os. I set my servers to automatically download and install patches at 5am in the morning. I have yet to have a patch that broke something. But never be afraid of switching oses or finding a new solution. it's only an os
Yes it sounds like retailers whining because of people returning products. Maybe that's why the chinese guy looks at me funny when I enter the shop. Anyways AMDs unprotective core really sucks. I cracked a duron once, sent it back and they advised me not to rma it because AMD will not replace cracked chips. cheap asses. But it's their loss. Instead of upgrading one of my duron system I choose not to because it's a pain to install a new cpu. instead of a 2500barton I'm still chugging along with a 2000xp
I cracked a smile when I read "music lovers". That's like calling pedophiles "child lovers" or bank robbers "money lovers". I just jacked your car but don't sue me I'm a "car lover"
We'll I use IE. I do have mozilla, phoenix, opera and netscape along with IE. I use Avant ( a tabbed IE browser ) about 90% of the time. Why? netscape has tabs too so why don't I use it? Imho, netscape, opera, etc aren't better than IE. They are equal in features but there's no reason to use them until I need to.
There is one reason tho why I fire up IE when I want to view a webpage. Habit, I've been firing up IE from long ago it's just habit to open it up and use it.
The second one is the other browsers are slow. Not slow at rendering pages but slow to load up. An example. Fire up IE and either netscape or mozilla, go to cnn.com on both browsers. Minimize them. Load up your favorite game (bf1942, mechwarrior 4 etc). play for a while, exit the game and click on your minimized netscape and ie windows. see which one comes up first.
Yep my #1 annoyance, waiting 5 seconds for my minimized netscape or opera windows to come up.
You don't like IE because it is full of holes. You care about people so much that you want them to switch to a safer and better browser, yet you fully support the disclosure of information that is useless to anyone else back hackers. In other words what you want is not the well being of users, you just want them to switch to your software.
That page is useless to just about anyone other than hackers or microsoft.
The airforce, like any other agency that gets money from the govt has to show how and why it spends money. if they go and get some free software thing their budget will be cut. Now not only do they have to go and find the knowledgable few to operate the free software, but incur additional costs upgrading to a new system all because they want to save a few million dollars (which they won't get to use anyways) by running the free software. Contrary to the slashdot belief, government spending money is a *GOOD* thing. It stimulates the economy and helps us in the software business make ridicelous amounts of cash so we can buy nice american cars which stimlates the auto-industry and helps the economy. it's all about stimulation man
I've heard many people say they have no problem with it.. they don't? remeber cable is shared. nothing will change just because they are charging somebody more than you. They'll still give you the same existing shared line, with people paying more hogging it. They won't reduce what you pay now, they'll just cap you and ask somebody to pay more. Besides what good is 1gig a month? download a couple of linux iso cds and it's all gone. I wouldn't mind if they gave the hoggers their own lines to hog from, but what's the point if they are still hoggin from the shared bandwidth? it doesn't help me.. it only helps the greedy cable company
if sept 11th didn't happen this movie would have gotten a rating of 2/5. The movie doesn't really tell us in the way of a story what we don't already know. US marines and rangers get stuck up the creek without a paddle and have to fight their way out. That's it. 30mins for the setup, 1 hour of fighting. The fighting drags on and on and on. halfway through the movie I was getting quite irritated sound of repeated gun shots. If there's any reason to watch this movie it is to see how marines and rangers fight in the city. Although I don't think it deviates from the truth that much, the level of action is quite intense. I don't think ordinary somali citizens were quite that brave as they were portrayed in the movie.. other than maybe perhaps to give the audience the impression that this was really a tough opponent.
Those licenses have already been paid for. Now that they have switched, they'll have to buy new licenses when they decide to come crawling back. Then bill will have his revenge
well my take on this is if it wasnt important to him he wouldn't have put it below the article. He put it there to show he was well educated and supposedly knew what he was talking about but it turns out he doesn't. If you're willing to put your credentials on your documents make sure those docs are correct.
to get real performance on windows2000, you have to use windows2000 specific api not just use your normal bsd sockets. Windows2000 has a new function called BindIOCompletionCallBack() that does the thread pooling for you. Use the transmitfile() and transmitpackets() api to for maximum performance, AcceptEx() works with iocompletion ports and all the others don't. I'm surprised he didnt let someone who knows about win2k to do it, or even request people to write the fastest file transmission or email transmission for him, rather than rely on his limited knowledge to create a test like this.

that 10$ doesn't go to microsoft. it goes to the guy who spent a couple of hours burning the copies he downloaded from the web
it's not like they are making any sort of money with the rampant piracy that goes on in vietnam. I'm not exactly sure which side wins here.

you mean people who actually care whether they are browsing with IE or mozilla use buy now links in windows media player?

they managed to turn that quote into an entire article. So microsoft doesn't like itunes.. who would have thought

AOL has been doing this and is still doing this to all of their customers. get your head out your arse and stop being a hypocrite
