I agree Softimage data was woefully missing. To those that have claimed Softimage is no longer of any use, I just finished watching that "Making of Phantom Menace" (cant remember the actual name) and saw Softimage being used all over the place; specifically, the pod race sequence. Maya was also used for other sequences including the pod race (the Maya installer has some SWTPM shots). They use certain apps for certain shots, depending on the effect desired/capacity of the app. Ive also seen Softimage being used in a number of more recent pictures, so I doubt it has been "replaced" yet.
Generally less weight at the equator?

IANAScientist, but I understand that the earth bulges at the center due to the centrifugal (or is it centripetal) force caused by its rotation. Wouldnt this same force make you weigh less close to the equator and more at the poles? Just curious.
tweening = rendering frames between keyframes in video
Actually, AFAIK its a little older than video. Head cartoon animators (ie. bigshots @ Disney) only draw the key positions of the characters (AKA keyframes), and the other animators draw the ones in between, hence the abbreviation tween. Video later adopted the term. Cheers!
Ive been using up2date for a while now (since 6.2), but have not had to pay a penny. All I did was register. Am I the only one, or is there a "premium" style service? Id hate to think I was somehow "stealing".
Actually, in Latin America it is a common custom for the woman to take the mans last name with the possesive "de" (of), so if Juan Smits marries Maria Sanchez, she becomes Maria de Smits. Its little outdated, but still used. Just a little FYI.
Yeah, I wouldnt buy it because I cant fit my car in the house to sync the music.
Seriously though, they should have realized that a CD-MP3 player would have blown them out of the water. Even a little further down the road (pardon the pun), cars will probably have some kind of wireless thingy to listen to streams.
Just my $.02.
I guess you mean the RT311... Ive been using this too without a single complaint. If you upgrade the firmware, you get config access via web and ftp, as well as telnet. There are a couple of other new things in there too, such as better filtering, and a few bugs fixed.
Heres something Ive often wondered:
If the CD spins at a constant speed, does that mean that the data in the outer rings of the CD is less dense than the inner rings?
If so, a variable speed drive could fit a lot more data on the same CD.
Just food for thought.
Hmmm...
If you look at the Top 30 Most Popular Queries
on the Gnutella Network, "suicidal tendencies" is listed at number 29.
I like this band as much as the next guy, but can it really be number 29, or did somebody conveniently put this up there while browsing queries just to outrage people?
Betcha they didnt know it was a band.
Dumbass congress bounty hunters... ...
Or is there a massive Suicidal Tendencies comeback I hadnt heard of?
Everyone seems to be drooling that thisll some day be theirs, but the fact is that if its ever used in our lifetime, itll probably be for police cars ("Pull Over!", coming from above), and ambulances (no high-speed weaving through traffic), and such.
Just a quick obsevation:
Any one notice that "CAIDA" means "fall" (verb), in spanish?
It is the spanish equivalent of saying "the server is down" (the server fell).
Just a little inside joke for my spanish speaking buddies;o)
If they released this test CD just to check the system out, they should have done it out in the open. It seems somebodys scared of having their project cracked 2 seconds after releasing it (which will probably happen) and losing their funding.
Inserting "grossly erroneous values, adding bursts of hiss to the audio signal" sounds like a pretty shaky protection scheme anyway.
SETI would be Specially pointless if ET is using RC5-2048...

The only official chemical being used to destroy illicit crops is glyphosphate, which is actually used all over the world (U.S. included) for crop erradication. Sure, there have been experiments with other chemicals, but not on such a scale as glyphosphate. The people that report getting sick from these chemicals are either in direct contact with the crops and shouldnt have been there in the first place, or have been coerced by guerrilla troops, since it now widely known that guerrilla troops have taken over the drug business in Colombia and they have a HUGE propaganda program. 70% of guerrilla funding comes from illicit crops.
How do I know all this? I live down here and have worked on related projects. The amount of fake news and general bullshit that comes from the guerrillas affects all kinds of news stories that come out of this country. You should read all of these reports with a lot of skepticism if its based on reports FROM here.
Im as CIA/NSA/FBI/??? paranoid as the next slashdotter, but the guerrillas are even worse (imagine that!) and Ill take Uncle Sams word over theirs any day.
Speaking as the only (probably) Colombian Slashdotter, Im probably putting in a good 65 hrs. a week. Although I have an important place in the company, I sometimes wish I could get out of here at regular hours, which is 50 for the rest of the employees (sigh).
Not complaining, though. I love this job.
This seems to be the standard for most IT companies down here, too.
Anyone else from S.A. have these hours?

He probably didnt, but should have gotten karma for that interview, as well as any other slashdotter featured in an interview. No?

However, scrawling "I love you Crystal" or some such on some web page is not terrorism.
But how would you know that "I love you Crystal" isnt some sort of code?
...and eating can be like a Kadinsky painting!
Just a nitpick:
Im pretty sure you meant Kandinsky.
Kadinsky is a coffee shop in Amsterdam (according to the original link).

Do the artists want to be under the record companies control forever?
Seems to be the time to start moving them out. At least for online stuff.
I got the same message running NT4.0 Workstation, IE5.5.
Great. Now I cant get that damn song out of my head.
