By powered breaks, I was meaning electrically actuated mechanical breaks, (traditional bicycle hand breaks + a servo to close them). I'm not familiar with these scooters so I'm assuming they are not relying totally on motor breaking. That would be massively irresponsible for a vehicle that they know isn't going to be subjected to actual fail-safe designs standards and qualifications.
There is no need for electronic breaks. (I'm actually quite surprised they went to the expense of powered breaks.) They're powered by a DC motor so a relay across the terminals will put a massive load on the motor making it effectively unusable. That relay is not triggered by software, the user pushes a button to latch it in (that has to be done to end the ride and end the billing). You can do the same thing with solenoid activated latch on a traditional mechanical hand break.
I am in full support of this.
However, I give it about 5 seconds before some DHS stooge argues that entering the country counts as probable cause and the same judge that allowed Stop and Frisk falls for the same equally bullshit reasoning.
We already have that, it's called the Intermodal Container. A tram way could haul carriages that would just clip onto the top of the containers like those cranes that unload them from ships. You could design a station where trucks line up and drive under the cables, the carriage lowers and plucks the container off the truck, all with out stopping.
So a state law seems to override a federal law. I wonder what may have changed the courts mind after they decided that the feds can ignore California's medical marijuana laws. I suppose I don't need to ask that question if any of these sound recording belong to RIAA members.
Split-flap displays make a little click when they change characters. Given some of the known words sequences that will be displayed, variations in the sound of each click, and variations in the timing due to the addressing of the characters, I'm sure complete displays could be reconstructed.
Would it be too much to ask that these things not communicate wirelessly? It seems to me that this just unnecessarily multiplies the threat. (Everyone here should remember the shit storm over RFID passports). They really should use a contact based communication system in such a critical application like this. I suggest the transmitter use a small solenoid to tap (like Morse code) on a sensing plate glued to a rib.
I think the logo removal is more about keeping viewers from thinking that the company is paying for product placement, especially if another brand is paying them.
Expanding on the directionality idea... The emergency vehicle could just broadcast it's GPS coordinates on some dead-simple system like the NIST time signal. Then in car GPS receivers could display the emergency vehicle on their map. Even turning themselves on if needed. This would also cut down on fakers.

Wow, I really want to slap the person who came up with that State of the YOUnion buzzword.

Of course they will. Capcom wouldn't be retarded enough to publicize this anti-feature or disclose it anywhere on the box.
Hmm, there's got to be some sort of topological argument against this.
Not really.
Sure 9/11 had vastly more deaths per hour, except over only couple hours in the year instead of 8760 hours.
Oh, you're serious?
Let me laugh even harder.

This is going to be about as helpful as those scanners are, but less likely to result in sexual assault charges being filed against TSA employees.
Apparently you haven't seen the Japanese remake of 'Little Shop of Horrors'.
You are a dick.
(This is coming from atheist).

I think it's more like "If you've done something wrong in our names, we have a right to know about it and punish you for it".
The sheep may be well armed, but that won't change the fact that the vote was 2 to 1 in favor of mutton.
Like we need another lame Dan Brown book+movie.
Also, http://xkcd.com/593/

I go geohashing/geocaching using nearby buildings as a reference...

I do appreciate the price drop, but could they please just make it an even 15$.
A modified heat pipe can be used as a thermal 'diode'. It's made by interrupting the wicking near one end.
