The only positive effect of debt that I know of is that paying it off can get you certain badges, but I'd think that forgiven debt wouldn't count toward those.
My impression was that the general libertarian goal (some of which I'm in favor of) is the privatization of many things, among them the local police forces. If that has nothing to do with Ron Paul, then my semi-humorously intended comment was misdirected.
If you want to prevent an officer from having the power to tazer innocent people why not... oh I don't know... vote for Ron Paul?:) So that instead of being tasered by someone who at least theoretically answers to the people, you can be tasered by someone who answers only to his police corporation's board of directors. Excellent! That's some real progress there!
I hear NPR mention a "war on terror", and I want to call in a correction/complaint.
A war on terror or fear is quite different than a war on terrorism.
And a war on terrorism is quite different than a war against terrorists.
And of course a war on terrorists is quite different that a war against a specific group.
A war against an generic term, a tactic or unspecified groups of people cannot be won. (It cannot be lost either). Maybe they're actually saying "war on terror*", but the wildcard is silent?:-)
The steers make me nervous, because they have big horns and they just stare at me while I go back and forth in front of them riding my big, red "toro" lawnmower. Learning that they were castrated made me feel a little better, since that generally means they're not as aggressive. So, you're just in danger of being mauled, and not anything more, ah, disturbing.:-)
I, too, took the required typing class in 7th grade and exceeded the 50wpm required to pass. I didn't touch a keyboard again until 9th (or was it 10th?) grade when I was able to take the Computer class on the Apple ][ machines sitting in the back of the math classroom. In the intervening time, I had completely forgotten how to touch type, and had to develop the hyper-advanced form of hunt & peck that I use to this day, 25+ years later...

You're right! It could become the Next Big Thing on Slashdot. And to think, you and I were right there to witness the beginning... Definitely something for the autobiography, or to tell the great-grandchildren.
(I forgot to click the 'post anonymously' box for that one, as I usually do for my weaker efforts:-))
I always imagined slashdot ran on hundreds (perhaps thousands) of modded Dreamcast consoles Are you seriously saying that you imagined a Beowulf Cluster of them?
I was on a long-distance drive when the second Iraq invasion began. I had the surreal experience of listening to "Wildest Dreams" by Asia on CD, then changing to the radio and hearing that the shooting had started again.
All those appendices at the of LoTR mostly concern stuff that happened *before* the main story in the books.
"Linguo... dead?"
The badges are for paying off debt, not running it up. The latter is much easier than the former... :-)

Jack Chalker had something like this in his "Four Lords of the Diamond" books, too.

Yeah, no need to get Mad. Max out your mellowness.
He is (or was) also a very good fencer (albeit a foil fencer - everyone knows that we epeeists are the true geeks).
I think he did a lot of his videos on an Amiga with the Video Toaster.
I like Audion's ability to change the playback speed - useful to me as I struggle to learn to play the bass guitar.

Try something along the lines of: Change the interface name and port number to suit your needs.
Or "commenceprimaryignition"...
(disclaimer: I actually was very into baseball until I was 15 or so)

EBCDIC or ASCII? What encoding?
:-)
Just joking. I, too, prefer plain text wherever possible.
I have one of those WIFI thingies; is that close enough? :-)
