Lots of good suggestion on here already, but you have to go to Chicago. It is probalby the only big city where people are nice and helpful. Besides here is what we got:

    • Museum of Science and Industry (with an IMAX)
    • History Museum (dinos and the such)
    • Planetarium (with one of those cool light dome things that projects the sky...i can't think of the name right now, but there are only a handful in the US...)
    • 2nd City (comedy company)- Almost everyone on Saturday night live has come out of here at one point.
    • Steppenwolf Theater Company - Probably the best outside of NY.
    • Sears Tower - very very cool view on a clear day
    • All the Skyscrapers ... each one has a unique history and what not. Take a guided boat tour to hear all about it.
    • Navy Pier - Just anohter IMAX
    • Some really good restaurants / pubs.
    • etc...

Dude, I'm with you all the way. Our monetary system blows if you ask me. The dollar bill? Do you know how much money is wasted constantly printing these things? I think the average life of a 1 dollar bill is like 3 years or something. horribly inefficient. I'm all for the dollar coin.

I don't think it is as much America's inability to accept that others have better systems, but I think it more has to do with the red tape. It is *very* hard to change systems over, esp when 300 million people use them. There was a HUGE movement several years back to move to the metric system. Several states even started producing new signes to use km instead of mi. Problem is that people are set in their ways and all the lobbying / politic / cost to change just makes things like this near impossible to change. I know for a fact that Europe is the same way.

Paper sizes? How are european paper sizes better? They are too large if you ask me.

Then soft cover won't be good enough, and you need the hard cover.

Then you start trolling newsgroups and finding web sites like www.dragonmount.com.

Then you re-read the books again for the 4th time because book 10 just came out and you want to make sure you havn't forgotten anything (not a light task, each book is like 800+ pages).

    I love you!!!!

You're absolutly right!! jordan does a MUCH better job telling a story, getting you involved, and making EVERYTHING that happens seem like it should.

Nothing is forced, unbelieveable, or 'queer'. I don't know how many times during the LOTR triligy when I thought to myself, "i don't believe that for a second", or something along those lines. Jordan expalins his entire universe and has a logical base for anything that needs a bit of a streach to belive.

But on the ohter hand the LOTR movies *do* kick some serious ass...all the mindless drivel and uncertainty is cut out to leave a fast paced excellent movie.

Watch Lord of the Rings, but read "Wheel of Time".

You're absolutly right. I mean, a corperation won't sell / make a product if they *lost* money with little hope of making it back...even MS.

Besides when you hear that MS loses money on every XBox sold, that doesn't mean much. There is a big difference to what we the public pay for the XBox and what it really costs. Those crazy "suggested retail price" things are a bitch. Just because something *should* supposidly costs 500 dollars and you buy it for 300 doesn't mean that they lose 200 dollars every sale. It just means that analysts deam that 500 is the appropriate price to charge with all the R&D, components, and other costs that went into development.

Its just like when you buy a ring. They are always on sale like 50% off their "real cost". Bullshit. When you but that "discounted" ring for 200 dollars from the 400 it "should" cost, everyone who has a hand in that ring is making out just fine cash wise.
