  1. What's disturbing... on Sarah Palin 'Target WikiLeaks Like Taliban' · · Score: 1

What's disturbing is that PBS News Hour reported 20%+ of people polled thinks she's presidential material.
The good news I guess is that over half of the people with "below average" intelligence still have enough sense to conclude she's totally a politically agitating airhead. God(s) help us if she gets elected...

After all if you did millions in damages to your employer he can sue you right? Same principle.

Laws like that makes employers want to outsource your jobs to another location that does NOT have laws like that.

Why do you guys want to pay for this?

Because we live in Amerika, where politicians are bought and paid for by the big media companies. Unlike European countries (yeah, I am making a gross generalization here) where your politicians at least make an half-hearted attempt to protect your rights. Ours sold them at firesale prices to the content companies. So we're to either pay up or face insane fines and/or jail terms.

  13. Re:So tell me again how Verizon is better? on Verizon To Pay $25M For Years of 'Mystery Fees' · · Score: 2, Interesting

For all those people who claim Verizon is better, it's time to wake up. All phone carriers are out to screw you. It's in their DNA. Thank goodness for number potability, so that we (the customers) can take our numbers and move it. To keep the carriers honest, everyone should change carriers every year or two. Maybe that will get them to "care" about customers.

So you play musical chair annually. How does that solve the problem? Without real competition all you're doing is paying these carriers to screw you. Don't matter which one, because they all act the same.

If this were a new thing you might have a point. However, in Japan they have their own equivalent of comic-con and people make their own fan-zines and sell them for a profit. It's technically illegal but they never get shut down. The reason is that excitement over a franchise is still excitement over a franchise. This was known over 10 years ago but nobody over here is paying attention to it.

That is not... entirely true. I recall Disney was not amused when someone published a doujin with Micky and Minnie Mouse 'going at it.' (Right, 50 years of celibacy?) And don't you know it, Disney's landsharks came knocking so fast it made their heads spin.

Most American "fast food" are considered novelty food in Asia, and thus commands a higher price. Locals don't (or can't afford to) eat in those establishments regularly. A friend commented that Pizza Hut is considered a "respectable" restaurant in Shanghai. The same could be said about some of the things in the menu of Asian restaurants in the states; some of the things being served (and frankly charged a premium for) are very cheap food in Asia, that no one in their right mind in Asia would pay the sort of price being charged in the states for.
