Oh, and calling Star Wars one of the most epic stories ever written is pathetic. Read some books for God's sake. Ever heard of The Illiad? The Odyssey? The Maha-Barata? Fucking BEOWULF, for God's sake! Get out more!
You misspelled "Stay in more!". Hope this helps.
Personally, I find it difficult to read while I'm out. If it's not the sun in my eyes, it's the wind turning the pages...
How come we don't hear about CTS amoungst piano players, organist and the like. What about guitarists?
Perhaps because there are more of us (computer keyboard slaves) than them (musicians who practice/play enough to develop such problems)?
My former hammered dulcimer teacher has suffered from RSI (as an aside, does anyone actually enjoy it?). One of the things she stressed was proper hand position while playing, and I'm guessing that your piano teacher(s) said that too.
Another local (Washington, DC area) musician, Al Petteway suffered from RSI in his left (fretting) hand until he switched to alternate tunings (such as DADGAD) which allowed him to play without pain.
I haven't read the article, but this doesn't surprise me one bit. I'm sure this is a desperate attempt by the USCF to develop a human player capable of competing with the next generation of chess programs.
Maybe they're not trying to develop human players, but human pieces. Eventually, you'll hear things like this at USCF cocktail parties:
It's not about the quality of graphics in the original game (they were much better in the Discs game -- some pretty nifty (for the time) 3D effects). The fact that you could play the games from the movie was cool enough for me.
This would be an awesome tool to block spam. If this program could look at the text of an email message and determine that it is a solicitation of some kind
When some moron sends me dual-encoded HTML/text mail, let me prefer to show the text version. If they sent HTML-only mail, convert it to text. I never want to see HTML. Ever!
Seriously... I don't want you using my software to help kill people.
I spend my free time writing software to help people. Right now I can barely afford to eat but I am happy because I feel that the software I write is going to do some good in the world.
Killing people and creating even more bad karma doesn't fit in with my world view:)
Hold it right there, Sparky!
You claim to want the freedom provided by the GPL, but then you want to restrict the purposes that people use GPL'd software for? What right do you have to tell me what kind of software I can write?
Don't get me wrong -- I'm not in favor of killing people. I'm a fairly rabid pacifist, actually. But I'm offended by the idea of hiding behind a license in the name of restricting the free use of software.
Now maybe they can cut some of the cinema prices? I couldnt help but notice that the prices keep ticking up
This is my major beef with box office statistics -- they're reported in $$ instead of the number of butts in seats. That metric would hold across time. Sure, Harry Potter (as an example) made lots of money, but did more people see it than Gone With the Wind?
It's a lot of "take" and not much "give" on an international level, i.e. not at all open source (unless you take Microsoft's use of BSD code as "open source")
*sigh*
"Open Source" in this context means that it is publicly available -- it has absolutely nothing to do with Open Source software.
They probably make $$$ sending spam, then turn around and make $$$ blocking it, just like the phone companies charging a fee for caller-id, then charging a fee for caller-id-blocking.
But she was more than happy to get the job with a contractor, because she figures the combination of slow-moving projects and general red tape involved in firing someone would give her tremendous job security.
Then she's going to be in for a real shock when the contractor figures out that she is deficient in the clue department and sacks her.
It may be difficult for the government to get rid of deadwood, but a contractor will do it in a heartbeat in order to save/salvage the company's reputation.

My first thought was that it looked a whole lot like Luxo Jr.
It's not OOP that saves the day, but the OO Analysis and Design. You can't just write code using an OO language and expect every problem to just solve itself unless you have a thorough understanding of the problem (discovered during the Analysis phase) and a sound strategy for solving
the problem (created during the Design phase).
Given that the human face recognition performed by the check-in agents did not keep the hijackers out, there is no reason to think that computer face recognition would help.
Except that a human would not necessarily have the most up-to-date list of faces to recognize in his/her memory.
I expect to read soon that that Harry Fox Agency will start cracking down on jam sessions because guys share lyric sheets and show each other popular licks.
I guess that my wife and I can't play our guitar and bass together anymore, either...

I use only old IBM 101 key "clicky" keyboards
My favorite keyboard is still the Northgate Omnikey Ultra I bought in 1990 or 1991 to replace the piece o' crap Amiga 2000 keyboard.
And as another poster pointed out, no !@#$^ windows logo keys!

I did enjoy the Tron movie very much, but I must admit that I'm skeptical of whether or not it can be turned to a game.
So you've never seen/played the Tron or Discs of Tron arcade games?
It's not about the quality of graphics in the original game (they were much better in the Discs game -- some pretty nifty (for the time) 3D effects). The fact that you could play the games from the movie was cool enough for me.

SpamAssassin will do this part for you.

NeoMail does this.
Isn't it a mark of a good design when a system is modular?
From a code design standpoint, yes.
From a business standpoint, assuming that your business model depends upon absolute control of the whole shebang, no.

Documented by the fine folks at UserFriendly.org.
you think the Military is going to get any progress??
Sure -- the military has weapons that go *boom*, as opposed the government as a whole, which has a Justice Department that just goes bust.

Hmm... Sneetches, anyone?
It's not a spoof of The Matrix, it's a spoof of Kung Fu movies. There is a difference.

Wall hanging?
No, that just *screams* coffee table.
*bzzzzzzzzzzt* Thanks for playing, try again.
The creator of the Stainless Steel Rat is Harry Harrison, *not* Harlan Ellison.
My cat says "meowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwrf". Really. There is a distinct "f" sound at the end.
And, as I posted to the elbows mailing list more than 10 years ago, "Cats don't go whirrrr".

D&D? Bah! Wile E Coyote (Super Genius) had "Liquid Hole" years before Gary Gygax put out his books.
I'd pay at least double for that one.
I guess that my wife and I can't play our guitar and bass together anymore, either...
