but there is a castle in mexico that is over 1000 years old on a mountain by the sea. The designers built tunnels in the mountain so that the coastal winds would be pushed through the mountain into the castle. The cold rock in the mountain cools the air before it is propelled into the castle. It was over 100 outside, and a cool 78 (according to my watch thermistor) inside. Quite the marvel.
"would require immense logic databases and analysis algorithims..."
I think thats the problem with AI. Once you give it the capabilities of making very complex desisions, you give it the ability to screw them up. Immense logic is the problem, not the solution. Man shouldn't be so quick to create life cause it would suck for the first artificial brain to be a psychopathic killbot!
I wouldn't suppose Bush's ties to the oil industry (and thus Osama Bin Ladin) explained in detail in a recent issue of High Times magazine means that if you drive a gas-powered car you support terrorism...
2 billion dollars? I wish George "Dubbi" Bush would get a clue.
If you want to use LGPL code in your project of commercial/GPL/ETC license, it is fairly easy to make the code into a library(if it isn't already), release it as LGPL, then use the library in your project. Isn't that the use the LGPL was originally designed for?
CNN ran a poll that shows the average CNN.com reader thinks they know science. The average CNN.com viewer is not the average american, and for that matter may not even be american at all. I'm sure people from all over the world go to cnn.com.
Wow. More america bashing. You guys are great. So very original. I wish you would post what country you are from so I can unload some world history on your ass. America isn't the only nasty country in the world... as a matter of fact most of the countries in the world have done or currently do Very Bad Things(tm). I'll admit that America is one of um. I'm trying my damnedest to get out of this country.
BUT DID YOU EVER THINK THAT PERHAPS THE AVERAGE CNN.COM READER ISN'T A GOOD CROSS-SECTION OF AMERICANS???
Ye gods. You get +4 for a run of the mill, multible choice, american bashing post. Why not use your brain instead? I'm sick of seeing non-intelligent crap like this get modded up. I write an amazing post on U232 shells and it doesn't get touched, but your typical/. babble gets +4.

I'd almost feel sad for you if it weren't for my desire to see you die in a ditch somewhere. I do hope your a resident of Iraq when we blow that whole fucking country to hell next year. I wouldn't mind listening to the trolls rant about how we "slaughtered" millions (of terrorist-supporters) as long as you wake up with a serious case of radiation poisoning.
Don't get me wrong, I'm a very peacefull guy. I'm very tired and a good bit fed up. 1/2 of the articles I've read on/. in the past week have had a couple US-bashing +5's. I hate this country more than anyone else in the world could ever possibly imagine, but at least be intelligent about your bashing.
You people are quite insane. We don't even use "Stones" as a unit of measurement. You act like metric vs standard is a religious debate. Let me assure you that it is not. It's only different standards of measurement. I'm sure any educated person in the states would ABSOLUTELY FUCKING LOVE to use the metric system. Unfortunately, we can't do it right now for a variety of reasons. Stop flaming the US. You sound like a moron.
We do *NOT* bomb every country we have a disagreement with. We have disagreements with every country in the world I'm sure. Many countries however are our allies. Although I believe that the US has done ALL SORTS OF REALLY NASTY THINGS and this country is going to the shitter, you guys need to chill out. If you really think that the US is going to bomb you because you use the metric system, then you have some serious issues to confront.
I was running out the door when I posted that. Road signs were just a single example. There are many more. According to google, It would cost 150 billion dollars to replace every road sign in America to a standard/metric sign. Excuse me if I don't want my tax dollars spent on something that would do nothing but give you morons another Onion.com headline bitching that it took so long.
"Street signs now metric! Now if only we could afford to give a shit."
Do you really think the average american gives a damn about changing the road signs in america? Do you think $150,000,000,000US dollars could be better spent? I'd expect starving people all around the world would contend that it would be a waste of money. I myself, having been a starving computer tech, would tend to agree.
I'm sure your country is much better than the US because you use base 10 for everything.
You hear that? Thats the sound of the whole world not giving a shit.
> It's just like the way the americans are refusing to accept SI units, when every other country uses them. But I guess, if it's the American Way, it is the Right Way. And if we refuse to admit this, the USA will be happy to bomb us into submission
I guess you don't live in america. America uses metric mesurements when dealing with a vast majority of things. It's not because we think our way is wrong or right. It's because it would cost a lot of money to change all the road signs in america. Anything scientific is measured in metric units. Many lesser educated people don't know what a millimeter is, but I'd expect they also don't know how to read or write. There are certain exceptions to this broad generalization I'm sure.
Don't get me wrong, I do impress myself on a regular basis, but I doubt I'll ever get bored at impressing others. I'm only 21 now, so I'm sure I have a lot of growing to do also. As far as burning out, there are dozens of things that are more influential in a burnout for me.
Maybe programmers program because they like making good products as many have said. Myself, I like making lots of money, and I think I have IMTS (I Made This Syndrome). Ever since I was 12 years old (programming QuickBasic! woot) I have gotton a kick from showing people what I made. Be it friends, family, or coworkers. When I recently wrote 3000 lines in 5 hours for a quake 2 model loader/display engine from scratch I got that kick (read: ego boost). That is why I program. I program because it is one of the VERY few things that *I* can do and no one else can. People all around the world can run faster than me, jump higher than me, and sing better than me, but damn it, there aren't too many people that can code better than me. (obviously there are (tens of?)thousands of better coders than me, but considering there are billions of people on this rock I feel pretty special.) In a world where people are amazed you know how to reinstall a printer driver, writing neet programs makes the sheep see you as a guru. That is why I program.
I expect they will use the Shadows of Lucin engine on the ps2. At least I hope they do. The old everquest looks like crap compared to the new engine, and I expect that there would not be a performace issue on the ps2 with the Lucin (aka EQ2.0) engine.

The actual media that the game is on for the game cube is a little tiny (possibly DVD) disc. It's not a standard format DVD disc. Each console, (X-box, ps2, game cube) USE A DIFFERENT FORMAT AND MEDIA TYPES. I don't care how cool your software is, you can't put a floppy in a CD-ROM drive... or a Mini-disc in a DVD.
It just doesn't work. There will never be a single media container that goes into all the popular consoles. The reason is all of the companies in the market want to be the only company in the market. If you believe otherwise, you need a head check. Look at the past.
> "What are the advantages of u238 shells and rounds over lead ammunition or ammunition made out of some other material?"
DU Shells are great for tank to tank fire because they have a much higher density than the armor it is piercing. The DU (for the most part) vaporizes (from heat) as it blows a big hole in other tanks. If you've never seen a tank being hit with one, it's like a bullet hits the tank and the tank blows the FUCK UP! It's AWSOME! about 50% chance of blowing their whole turret off! Sometimes they were found 100 yards away. On the inside of tank, it's like shrapnel city. 1st after impact, a blur of BB-sized burning metal bounces around (killing just about anyone inside. very few survivors). And if the BB's don't kill um, the explosion could (from fuel or ammo). Also, the vaporized metal is not good to be breathing (your suppose to have on a gas mask anyway, but it's sometimes ignored from what I've heard). The gas will kill you quick because you can't get oxygen through your lungs. In Desert Storm they were used in the massive ground battle. Because of DU shells our tanks were able to fire at a longer range than Iraq's tanks. Obviously thats important.
I'm not a military freak, but I can't find much of anything outside of The History Channel, TLC, and the various Discovery channels that isn't devoid of all intelligence. Hence, I know too much about junk yards, hitler (and his woman. ew. ugly), and planes that never got mass produced.
I'll bet it's completely possible that it wasn't KaZaA that did it at all. It was probably related to that security vulnerability that was announced (and quickly denounced). They claimed there was no security hole seemingly without investigating it. They claimed that no one contacted them with a security issue, but they have a bit of a record with me of loosing mail, and refusing to forward mail to the programming bunch (as only the PR, and some other useless email address are on thier website).
