No, it means that I am a responsible, arrogant person who served in the Gulf under Bush1, Yugoslavia under Clinton, and Guantanamo under Bush2. Given personal experience and the ability to see the big picture, Bush2 is the better of the three.
Unfortunately it will only be a matter of time that all civilized or western nations will be doing this. most of us will be in a database and will have no privacy. Hopefully that will happen after my descendents migrate to other planets by then.
Not only can Mac users vote for Bush, but often understand the issues as well. Mac users and other non-M$ OS users have a tendency to be a more informed than the M$ lemmings, therefore will make political choices that is based upon personal competence and responsibility rather than what the talking heads thrust on them. To make a choice of an "alternate" OS is a resultant of a person who researches and learns that facts BEFORE making a decision.
If it were required then it would be easier as a System/Network Admin to control access and prevent some lawsuits from occuring. In the homes, most people that I know that use broadband also have configurable hardware firewalls that would allow parents to prevent their children from being exposed from such material. Of course the attorneys might lose as there might be a drop in sexual harassment suits filed due to some employee looking at porn at work. Then again, how would the gov't make those who already have domain names purchased for the next 10 years convert prior to their domain end. Just my 3 cents.

How about budget. I can't imagine any town, much less state approving this, they (the politicans) would never put that amount of money towards something that won't get them elected for the next term.
As for placing the scanners on the road to catch speeders, that would be a viable argument since many towns use their police as revenue generators, however, if a car is moving that fast, they won't be able to scan the RFID. There is a time and distance constraint for this to happen. They might be able to make it work for slow zones, like school zones, but even then the feasibility is in question.

Configuring a CappaccinoPC to be comparative to the MacMini will cost you $1037.00. On both systems I would still recommend upgrading the RAM to 512MB. The memory upgrade will be cheaper with the PC but the TCO will still be lower with the mac.
The one item that I did not seee in the comments by the other/.ers is the support that one gets from Apple, which rightly indicates that most, if not all/.ers do their own repairs. Most users out there have a hard time doing more than calling the help desk when something goes wrong. This is not meant as a slam to users as most of us frustrate dentists as the users tend to frustrate us, but to simply illustrate a point.
We could argue this all day, or longer, but in the end, the mac mini will cause the users to hate computers less.
After travelling recently to 16000 feet with out any pressurization, I would think in my uneducated experience that a space-traveller could get the bends with these new suits. Could someone please explain? I don't have any background that explains this. Do the space-travellers depressurize while in the ship/space-station?

Programming is not introduced to students like it used to be. Now HS students are taught applications, not how to make the computer do something that someone else hasn't already installed onto it. Our youth are being deprived of the education on computers that was offered in the 80's.
I, for one, will instruct my children on the creation and use of various scripts and languages for their own personal use. (I will teach them about GPL, of course.)
A good friend of mine has several tatoos from this method. This has got to be one the greatest hacks from the pen, aside from the toothbrush shiv that is.
I know that you were writing a review of a book, not written by Heinlein, but the comment that most SciFi sucks, IMHO is going overboard. OK, perhaps 30% is lousy, and that might go even higher if you compare everyone to the standards that Heinlein and Clark and Asimov had set.
Obviously I have a lot of respect for the authors stated above, since they all have stong scientific backgrounds and truly understand the human condition. I just had to respond, don't hate me for message.
1. How many years can SCO drag this out, thus making some people/organizations believe they still have a viable business model? 2. Who is going to give them the money to continue these amazing allegations? 3. Who is going to prosecute SCO and land the final punch that flattens them onto the mat?
For readablity, which is another consideration, a Serif font is much easier to read then a sans-serif font. At least when more than one line is being read.
Since SCO approached Google about (SCO)Linux licencing fees, google no longer produces results on searches on "SCO". It has been addressed that any search result in concern with SCO will require Google to pay $695x10000servers=$6,950,000 per result. Therefore Google reprogrammed their search engines to ignore searches on "SCO".
You don't think that IBM was pushing those pages though a scanner and OCRing it? They probably have it all on disk now and are analyzing it as we read.
I don't have to access my linux server often but when I do, I need to ref. some command option that I forgot. I need man pages and I don't want them to go away. Long live man pages!
This series could be revolutionary in TV, if they did one thing. Hire good writers. We are finding many writers these days are relying on tech, sex and shock instead of good story line these days. We could only hope that this show stands up to the lowering standards of TV.
