The.avi format was never intended for VBR audio. As a result, a lot of those rips likely have serious audio/video sync problems. The.ogm and.mp4 formats do not have this limitation. My bet is on.mp4 as the standard format of the near future, because it will have much better hardware support than.ogm (which itself is a modification of the.ogg format, and is not even endorsed by Xiph). Do not place to much faith in the technical prowess of the ripping/piracy "scene", most of them are still using the awful DivX 3.11 codec, which has been pretty much deprecated by knowledgable video-encoding sites like doom9.org.
of hearing about "billions of people" who don't have water or electricity or somesuch shit. After what I went through to get DSL, I don't feel sorry for anybody.
Dude, *what* are you talking about? "set gaming back years" my ass! No doubt you would rather have us play some goofy side-scroller game with wizards and dragons and crap. Probably you just got your noob ass shanked on HomeLAN by some 12-year old, and you never got over it! Seriously, I've played lots of games, and I continue to buy new ones as they come out - and nothing, I repeat *NOTHING* comes close to Counter-Strike for sheer fun and mayhem. CS has the best gameplay period, probably because it was (originally) designed by real gamers, not "marchitected" by lame suits. The only bad thing about CS is that it is so popular that all the cheat-programmers flock to it. Maybe when Doom III comes out and people start making mods for it, CS will fade, but it hasn't happened yet. Check out the GameSpy server stats - CS rules. Out.

Yeah I know, the guy is brillant - the funniest post I've read all day. And to top it all off, he's got the Slashdot Schoolmarms scolding him for "disparaging others" - HAHAHAHAH! Superb stealth troll, man!
Right on brother! I'm sick and tired of all these whining modem-users. First of all, they lag everybody out on Counter-Strike servers. That, in and of itself, is a good enough reason to line up every 56k loser up against a wall and shoot them. Secondly, I'm getting really pissed about these damn warez pirates putting out gamez and appz in a zillion little 1 MB ".rar" files. WTF! Just gimme the whole damn ISO so I can download it in 20 minutes with my 3.2 mbps phat pipe! There's nothing worse than having to search around Limewire for that last "Adobe_Photoshop_6_full_version.r99" when you've got the other 98 little files. Then, to add insult to injury, you have to screw around with WinRAR to put the little fuckers back together again!!!
Maybe they mean support for add-on PCI card SATA controllers, as opposed to controllers built onto the motherboard. Remember linux also needed special drivers for IDE controllers like the Promise Ultra66.
No wonder I keep reading about low attendence at this year's CeBIT. That's why I fly out to Computex in Taiwan every year - no shortage of babes there!
I forsaw this situation a year ago when I bought a nice little Sony MiniDisc player/recorder. When I want to make my MP3s or CDs portable, I simply connect the digital "out" of my soundcard to the digital "in" of my MiniDisc with an optical cable and make a nice clean digital recording. The MiniDiscs hold about 74 minutes of audio, the same as a CD, and only cost about a $1.50 each. The only downside to MDs is that you must record in "real-time" - there is no way to speed up the process like with a Rio MP3 player connected to your computer with a USB cable. BTW, there are new MD players out now that support the new extended 320 minute format. Drool!
Yeah I remember the old days...
There was this particularly enlightened soul named "OOG THE CAVEMAN" WHO POSTED IN ALL CAPS ALL THE TIME.
He was one Platonic debatin' motherf*cker, that's for sure.
And if I pop my Counter-Strike CD into a Mac OS X machine, will it "just work"? ...
Yeah, that's what I thought. My boring beige PC may not run a fancy screenshot OS like your Mac, but it gets the job done, crappy drivers and all.
"In Europe, the trend is reverse, smaller, more economic cars running on electricity or natural gas and well esablished."
Which is why the air in European cities is so much cleaner and smog-free than in American cities!
Oh wait...

ever sees you in real life - it will kick your ass!
We do. How do you think we pay for the DSL and monthly fee?
