I refuse to allow you to define the Tea Party in your own words!
> The "Tea Party" is for:
> government control of public morality
No it isn't. It is against the forcing of your morality upon me. That is freedom.
> limited access to things that won't kill you (birth control, for example)
No it isn't. It is against you enforcing your morality on me. My child cannot even have a tylenol at school yet can march right down to a supermarket and buy abortion in a bottle. Until that child is 18 that child is mine and you have NO right to force you morality upon me.
> free access to things that will (i.e. guns)
Funny the one thing that keeps people like you from 100 percent forcing your morality upon me is what I want. In this case you are damn right!
> They are for the freedom to limit other people's freedoms
Excuse me, the Tea Party simply wants the freedoms guaranteed by the US Constitution to be adhered to without regard to any qualifiers. You would qualify freedom.
> for the tyranny of the majority over the minority
We live in a Constitutional Republic. You obviously do notknow what that means. If we didn't I believe you probably would have seen the Tea Party restore it by now.
> Tea Partiers are all for government handouts when it suits them
Well that is simply a bald-faced lie. The Tea Party is diametrically opposed to handouts.
> Government: hands off my Social Security
Social Security is not a handout. I pay every paycheck for Social Security and I will be damned if you are gonig to take it away from me. It belongs to me. Not the government.
> They are also for massive subsidies to large corporations
Show me one shred of evidence. One shred. You are full of it.

It is interesting how the tide is turning against "Progressives" (and I hate to even say that word, what makes them progressive is beyond me). Two years ago your post would have been modded so far down on/. that it might have emerged on the other side of the world.
Per the "prototype dashboard", rather than tout data only back to 1950, why don't we look backwards 5 million years, because as we know more data means better predictions:
The battery in the Chevy Volt is not a typical Li-ion battery, it's technically a LiFePo4 which has pretty awesome capabilities. I use these bad boys in my RC aircraft and they kick li-ion batteries butts any day of the week.
To look up LiFePo4 Google A123 battery.
Advantages over typical li-ion:
- Extremely high output capability - Relatively flat delivery of charge - High charge rates - Safety, no fires with an A123 battery
I tell you what, feel free to accept all of the tags your government wants to slap on you. Because I'll just be laughing at you because you will not be free my friend and I will be.
That's what Christians understand, and it is truly sad that you who believe you are so smart are so idiotic to believe you'll be free with a government provided tag.
Well, as far as I'm concerned, they already have. I don't want some blabber-mouth next to me trying to yell over the jet's noise for a cross country trip.
Now, if they want to instigate a cell-phone free area at the front or rear of the plane like they used to do with smoking versus no-smoking sections then I say go-for-it...
Long do you think Google would permit someone to walk onto their campus and start shooting photos before security rushes over and "escorts" them away.
And what would Google think if said person was using the new ultra-zoom whatever (think Google Earth) and began posting through the window photos of Google's whiteboard strategic planning meetings?
I think Google might send out a lawyer letter or two themselves.
It's obvious, Google hired a nitwit to drive the camera car around taking photos. That doesn't absolve them from responsibility for the actions of their nitwit.
As many times that I have been screwed by big-box stores, etc. I most certainly do exactly what you do. At least for anything above say $40 in cost.
Last time I purchased a laptop from CC I stood at the cash register, held up the line, and checked to see that there was at least a laptop in the box. Laptop shell could have held a brick I guess, but I felt a lot better given the absolute lack of customer respect these companies have now-a-days.
Haven't had a great deal of time to review 2.3 but I am of the opinion that the chart functionality has actually taken a few steps backward.
The wizard has been revised, but for no apparent reason or gain. It's basically the same wizard, different widgets.
And heaven forbid if you don't specify a chart title during the wizard process. Because as far as I can tell there is no way to add a chart title afterward. This behavior basically duplicates the recent versions of OO.
It appears as if the people responsible for the Calc charting have never tried to use the darn thing in a real life type situation.
Have a couple of crows that raise a chick or two in my neighborhood each year. Around May/June they get real cranky as the chicks start leaving the nest and hanging around my backyard.
What is interesting is that the parents will land in a tree branch directly above me and then proceed to pluck twigs and drop them on me.
While a lot of people seem to really dislike crows, I personally am enthralled by their ability to grasp just exactly what sort of thing might make me leave the premises.
A person with a slight case of Cerebral Palsy you're probably right. It might be me. I have a hard enough time walking on a perfectly level floor. I can only imagine trying to walk on a floor with a built in "trip factor".
Basically, the idea is interesting but short-sighted.
Sun exists to make money for it's shareholders. If and when it becomes advantageous to their share price to release ZFS then they will do it.
They have already stepped up to the plate and released Star/OpenOffice, Java, and significant portions of Solaris. Each of those software products is a very significant level of magnitude of work. How about a little bit of appreciation for those several person-years worth of work?
To imply that Sun is playing licensing games is disingenuous, at best.
And if you want to call someone out on licensing then how about Linus himself. Why does he own the trademark Linux? Yes, he provides free sub-licensing terms, but those are Linus' terms.
Much as Linus has his limits, Sun has it own limits of what it is willing to give up.
When Linus decides to give up the Linux trademark freely then he can legitimately start complaining about Sun Microsystems.
Totally agree with everything you said. I just got a Canon S3 IS (S2 follow-on camera) and the big zoom with digital image stabilization is worth every penny I paid for it, about $350 bucks now-a-days.
Start up time is extremely fast, customization of shots, when necessary, is pretty darn good and the time between pressing the button and the picture being taken is faster than I need.
Put it it super-macro mode and it literally takes pictures of bugs, leaves, etc. that you would convince many that the photos came from a microscope system.
I owned a 2001 Prius and it had to have the battery replaced at like 106,000 miles.
The comparison was a crock!
The Canon was outfitted with an average at best zoom lens and it still did a very decent job.
Put a 35mm Canon L prime lens on the Mark III, shoot the video using Magic Lantern in raw and see what that camera/lens combination can do.
Michael Mann has a LOT more to loose than some radio guy.
Same goes for Mr. Mann. Sure would hate to see "Global Warming" get slapped down by the courts now wouldn't we?
> Mann isn't a fraud, his observation an have been confirmed and refined
Really, by whose standards?

Figure,
Out a way to get a repair person out to my home for a broken phone line in less than 4 days.
Or, provide a real person to talk to me on the phone on a service call.
Or, not bill me for items I never ordered.
Or, charge me less than 8 bucks a month for caller id.
Or, figure out a way to have a long distance call of 175 miles cost less than 25 cents a minute.
Or, act like something other than a monopolist.
Or. "Insert your own gripe here"
I'd be happy.
I'm,
Sorry, but I don't need this much complexity in my life.
Am I going to be forced to live in a cave?

I can hardly imagine that this sort of situation is going to be tolerated for long in Europe.
