If you call one "Baloo", you immediatly have a great song - bare neccesities - to start investigating it:
Look for the bare necessities The simple bare necessities Forget about your worries and your strife I mean the bare necessities Old Mother Nature's recipes That brings the bare necessities of life
Wherever I wander, wherever I roam I couldn't be fonder of my big home The bees are buzzin' in the tree To make some honey just for me When you look under the rocks and plants And take a glance at the fancy ants Then maybe try a few
The bare necessities of life will come to you They'll come to you!...
The only problem: there are no bees, plants or ants on Mars.. Maybe you'll have to beep them out:). Seriously though, if you are planning to tip a rock over..
Excuse me? It's hard to think of a framework with better docs than qt! In fact, the documentation is really one of it's strong points! It's a real time-saver, with lots of example code, and all methods used in examples are hyperlinked back to their documentation. The only point where I agree is the STL part, but that's partly because it used to be badly supported by compilers (plus it's a pain in the behind to debug).
Do not follow the last link if you have a weak heart! It describes a brutal vivisection of an Ipod Mini, the man has no mercy at all! Furthermore, it links to pictures showing it's private parts, dismembered!
I know some friends who bought their 19" equipment at ebay for reasonable prices.. As with all professional equipment, dumpsters are your friends also:).
Agreed. What will be the selection criteria? "Hey, we need at least one travestite and an alcoholic to please our viewers"?! What's the fun of a reality show crowded with professionals doing their job?
Note to the LCD manufacturer: If the power went out unexpectedly, I'd probably realize it since the screen would go black - the "on" LED isn't telling me a whole lot I don't already know.
But if the screen is black, is it because something broke or because the power was cut? A power led tells you without the need for a voltmeter.
But the rovers have proved to be more robust. The Beagle didn't have the rockets to slow it down, while most succesful landings involved retro-rockets at some point (vikings, pathfinder, MERs). Instead, the Beagle had a parachute and three airbags*. Imagine one of them getting punctured, and you're in deep problems.
I agree with you that the scientific payload of Beagle seemed very impressive, but if the lander doesn't do it's job, there's not much scientific return..
Was the failure a freak accident or a real design issue? I think the only way to find out is to send a lot more of them and see how many survive. Or maybe they should consider sending back telemetry during EDL.. that way, at least you have a clue where thigns went wrong.
Also, they could put a rover and a beagle in the same room and give them some privacy, their offspring could prove very interesting.
*: it was difficult to find the actual number of airbags, I've found one article saying three.
The point is not that "supercomputing is only the in hands of the few," the point is that supercomputing is the hands of those who know what they're doing.
When I installed linux for the very first time, I definitely had no clue of what I was doing. And that was when slackware was pretty much the only distribution in town. The point is: I learned.
I'd rather think they would use it in their 'war on linux'. How will Sun's attitude towards linux evolve during the folowing months? Will they continue to sell linux? Maybe 1.6 billion dollar is enough money to make them drop it..
Each cast member wants around 360,000 dollars per episode, or eight million dollars for the 22-episode season. That is up from the 125,000 dollars per episode each they have earned for the past three years, Variety said.
They only get 125000$ per episode? How can you expect those people to live a decent life with that little money?!
from the article: "Our companies will continue to compete hard, but this agreement creates a new basis for cooperation that will benefit the customers of both companies. This agreement recognizes that cutting edge R&D and intellectual property protection are the foundation for the growth and success of our industry. This is a positive step forward for both Sun and Microsoft, but the real winners are the customers and developers who rely on our products and innovations."
Has Microsoft just paid another company to start bullying linux?
Do you have any idea how much equipment and expertise is out there? "Amateur" often is a euphemism for "fanatic".
YOU just try to explain that to Joe Average in 100 minutes!
Possibly there's a 420 involved too..
(if you don't get it: http://www.snopes.com/language/stories/420.htm)

Well, It was a linux enthousiast, of course, well, because!
The proof is very simple, but there isn't enough room in this post to write it down.

Anyway I tried the search a few minutes later and the page was gone.

he believes the $125,000 he earns for each 30-minute episode does not reflect the true value of the characters.
it only represents the true value of the voice?
