Use bittornado, it will allow you to cap your upload. Note however that it will also cap your download, but if you are only getting 2KB/s max, it shouldn't be a problem. You are probably having the problem of ACKs not getting through because your upstream is being all spent on uploading the file so you may see tremendous improvements.

So EA should take a profit hit and pay workers over the market value which they command? If people are taking jobs there it is because they are paying competitively with other similar gaming jobs. Ever think that maybe its the programmers fault, it surely is their choice, that they are in their current situation? The rest of the software industry doesn't have the conditions described in the ex-EA worker postings. Maybe because these people want so badly to do something they love they put themselves into this position. Teachers have the same fucking bag, they get payed jack shit and its their choice. The whole point is they are passing up higher paying programming jobs simply because they love games. The job market for game programming is more competative than many many others which are available and won't make you work 80+ hour weeks.
Why would you expect a text editor. If you could run a text editor as root you could modify any files you don't have permissions to. The editor doesn't need to be run as root you just need permission bits set on the files that you need access to. Giving you root access to an editor is pretty unnecessary in any circumstances.

They aren't abusing anything. I'm a comp-sci major and half the idiots in classes want nothing but to program games. This means the market is flooded. If they are willing to work for jack shit in order to get to do something they love, how can EA be blamed for paying them the minimum that they will accept? Its not like EA is forcing it on them. Now, as to whether or not coders should get overtime hours put in to law.. thats an issue for you and your state government, its not something EA decides.
