    After about 10 hours of this I just lost it. I have wiped the disk, and am now in the process of installing windows on both machines. I will probably never use linux again.

    Oh, yes you will. This failure will stick in your craw. It will tug at the corners of your conscousness. Eventually - perhaps when you read about an interesting tid-bit in a new distro release, you will be drawn in again to redeem yourself.

    I want to know if there are and tools that approach this ease of development, within a linux environment. Ability to choose the back-end database would be a huge plus - I'd certainly give Postgres a go.

    I've just started looking at Rekall by theKompany.com (KDE etc). It's quite Accesss-like, and it runs on Windows, Linux, and Mac. It only costs $70 too!

    Not as versatile/powerful as Access yet, but I think it may get there.

    Overall, the greatest challenges we face are with the International audience -- especially the French, Germans, and Japanese.

    If the Europeans end up pulling our asses out of the way of the Microsoft juggernaut, we'll no longer be able to toss out "yeah, well we saved your ass in WWII!" at the end of every argument!

    When I worked at Software Etc. in early 93, I remember selling an almost equal amount of Lotus and Word Perfect.

    I think MS-Office became more popular because it didn't have that incredible-pain-in-the-ass "lock file" anti-piracy feature that Lotus used.

    Quite interesting that MS has now gone completely in the other direction with mandatory activation, and one of the advantages of Free / open source is that you don't have to worry about per-copy license restrictions.

    ISS? no way. ISS is like 220 miles above the earth. This this is lucky to reach 20 miles (i doubt that, but i'm sure the range is classified)

    Article states there is potential for the final product to have a range in the thousands of kilometers.

    There's a big difference between spoofing the from field and setting the reply-to field. Setting the reply-to is totally legit way to handle the situation you're describing, while spoofing the from has no legitimate application that I've ever heard.

    Oh yeah, I've ALWAYS found that spammers are considerate enough to not reap e-mail addresses from the From: field, and to always send spam to the address in the Reply-To: field.

    Government projects which are funded for by us all, individuals and OSS corporations and closed-source corporations alike, should have their benefits reapable by all -- including those who for whatever reason have objections to the GPL.

    Presumably there are government projects whose purpose are NOT to just create software to be used by commercial interests? Why keep these projects from using the code that best suits their needs - including GPL code - if the project itself does not have an code-related interest??

    This is some of the most idiotic technology legislation I've ever laid eyes on.

    ...which, lately, have come with unacceptable EULA terms and mandatory downloads of other software.

    Software vendors should be required to supply security patches in isolation, and WITHOUT ANY additional licensing requirements.
