Making prisoners strip naked and taking a picture of them with a bag on their head is torture? Sounds like a good means of coercing them without using force, if you ask me.
A friend of mine works for Quickparts.com, a company that will produce prototypes based on CAD drawings that you submit over the internet. It's based in NE Atlanta, GA, and is focused on industrial parts. They will fill orders on a very short term basis for people who don't have enough inventory or want to do a test production run. Pretty nifty stuff.
the problem here is that the RIAA will not admit to what it is they actually sell: control. They control who listens to what music and where. How? Media, such as CDs, or radio broadcasts.
Musicians don't sell music, they make music. Musicians don't make any money off of CD sales. They make their money off of performances, and generally by actually being entertaining. The thing is, the RIAA doesn't want to let us determine who is actually entertaining, and who isn't. Thus, they want to keep control of their distribution and promotion system.
File sharing destroys that distribution and promotion system. People start to be informed about what music they actually like, and so they only purchase the CDs that they actually want, and they only go to the performances that they think will actually be entertaining. File sharing does NOT take any money away from musicians, and it does NOT slow down the sale of CD's. The only thing File Sharing DOES is to remove the RIAA's control.
What are you talking about? If anything, the internet is making the general public spell better. Hell, all you have to do with a word you're unsure of is type in in google, and they'll find the correct spelling for you.
If this cluster was MAC and anywhere near the size/cost of other clusters it would easily be number 1, assuming of course they do workout those efficiency problems.
I hadn't thought about it that way. You are right on all accounts. Think about digital video cameras and things like that, they will have to be $100 POS's for anyone to buy one.
It is the sad reality that companies are willing to trade any sense of locality for the quick buck. Problems with shipping high tech jobs overseas are hard to quantify, and therefore do not show up on investor reports. The main problem today is that companies are working for the easiest way possible to get a little jump on some chart or graph rather than establish long term paths to success. These shortcuts will come back to haunt them though, and eventually things will even out, in my opinion.
I for one don't think everyone is lying. I think you can use news.google.com along with bits and pieces of fox news to generate your own idea of the truth. If you have a logical bone in your body, you can sift through the BS. Apparently hundreds of protesters nationwide don't have this.
I just don't understand it. You know what I want? I want a phone that stores numbers, and when I call people it sounds crystal clear and I never get a "signal faded" notice and get cut off. That's it. No more, no less. Make the damn thing work like a phone and make it work well.
Nowadays it's all about how big the screen is and games and camera abilities and bluetooth and all sorts of irrelevant crap. Make the damn phone work so it sounds good when I'm talking to people!!
Besides, I can get a digital camera that will produce nice 6X8 pictures for about $150, so why pay $400 for a phone that has all sorts of bells and whistles, will take small crappy pictures, and sound like crap when I'm talking to someone? I just don't get it.
I highly doubt it. Microsoft is a company that is playing outside the boundaries of the game, and unfortunately our DOJ has shown several times that they will not stand up to them. This has got to stop.
computer engineering is a great major, and will lead you to some exciting jobs. However, you need to isntead major in fashion design, which will lead you to a lot of puntang. This, in the end, is all that matters.
I don't think the normal IDE PC HD would work as well as you imagine in something like a digital camcorder. If you've ever watched a video that any female has made ever you'll notice the camera bounces around more than a kangaroo in a crappy B-movie. All that wear and tear would kill a normal HD, so they have to make tougher ones, which are more expensive, yadda yadda yadda
Simple.
You don't get paid to say "The world isn't going to end."
There's no profit in it.
Saddam Hussein was an elected official as well.
He won with 100% of the vote, IIRC

You sir, are exactly correct.

details details, I was just making a joke, try the decaf for Christ's sake
telletubbie, and now the damn RIAA is brainwashing our kids! And people wonder what's wrong with this country!
We don't need the RIAA in schools, we need the tossed salad man in schools!

things, and not journalists.
In fact, let's thank God the only thing we let journalists do is spew out crap like that found in these articles.

Now if I could just land an open source development job in Rio and hang out with some of those topless Brazilians.
well that's interesting. It still looked like a bunch of cartoons to me.
and less animation for any new star wars films. I feel like I'm watching a video game with silly characters when I watch the new episodes.

maybe now sony will have graphics, speed, and feel of Gamecube and Xbox? nah, I doubt it.

don't worry, it's going to be HUGE!!!!

here's a link: to a story on a college discussion website that talks about this issue at the high school senior/ college freshman level.
don't forget that the 1.42 GHz, yeah that's right, 1.42, will still operate better than the latest greatest overclocked crap intel spits out.
