"Probably the best reason is this: Apple engineers know when to stop, MS engineers keep piling it on."
I dunno. With the mirrory crapfest that's the new Dock in Leopard, and the cutesy-curvy stacks... Leopard has a shitload of actual improvements over Tiger, but there's also plenty of over-the-top stuff in there. And that's coming from someone who's used Macs since System 7.1.
Having the server give back the right mime type and then having your browser choke because of some XML-error that is caused by something out of your control (user input in a CMS, for example) isn't exactly my idea of fun, either.
Unless I've missed something and there's an easy way around this...
"Especially when the source code for most browsers is not even publicly available."
Define "most browsers"? The source for IE and Opera isn't available, but for Firefox, Safari, Konqueror and lynx/links it is. Since a lot of browsers that are not in that list are based on either Gecko or WebKit, I'd say that the source code for most browsers is, in fact, available.
it's a pretty cool concept really, but they have to find a way to quiet down that projector, it makes a lot of noise. I can't sleep with noisy projectors next to my bed.
OTOH, most geeks are used to sleeping in a room with at least a couple of computers... =]
If a lawyer worked like M$, they'd watch you get run over by a truck, create something resembling you (only you'd take up 10 times the space, be only half as intelligent, and you'd just turn blue every now and then). They'd also "invent" a truck (of course, you'd need a PassPort(tm) to open the door, requiring to give them your birth date, bank account # and your significant other's [bust|dick] size).
Goddammit, I hate big companies. Except for MacDonalds, for they make really yummy quarter pounders. Yum.
I feel sorry for Paetec... Since when isn't an ISP allowed to cut an offending account anymore? Would this have been possible with AOL or another biggie for ISP? What about their TOS? isn't there any clause in there to prevent this kind of thing?
Of course we could all help by hitting monsterhut with the/.-effect, even though it would hurt Paetec itself too...
OT: I received a piece of Dutch spam the other day... on an e-mail account that was until then totally spam-free =\
From what I heard, the nice GUI in OSXS is actually missing a LOT of controls. A lot of items only have an "On/Off" button, not much more.
Don't get me wrong, I love OSX (running it since the pb), but this is not it's strongest point =]
Of course there's always webmin.... =]
They didn't, they just hid the BSD part better. I think =]
You log in on a win2k box, you'll then get a generic screen on a win2k box. The link to your inbox points to a BSD box, which redirects you to a win2k box.
I guess you can see yourselfs the parallel to computing
Let's see... We humans started using computers because we were locked away for a while by nature, and the the north pole / sahara are mindbogginly dull because they don't have computers (let alone net access) there?
Maybe he's running an n network?

A /. editor that actually reads the discussion and *gasp* responds to it?
timothy for president!
I think I need some more coffee
On MacOS, you have something like that. It's called Key chain.

As a matter of fact, RH installs VERY smoothly on a Presario. Well, at least the Presario I installed it on. Runs fine on an old DesqPro too.
Sorry. =]
fuck that, have a GSM phone on your monitor and have it ring! *wh00h00*
Very nice. Now try the[Netscape|Mozilla|Konqueror|Opera|OmniWeb|other ] logo...
It does. Or rather, did, once. Idiot.
WHAHAHA, mod this sucker up, he's funny =]
Good luck =]

Load balancer?
iMacs don't have SCSI anymore. The Macs that have SCSI can boot from it, yes. (duh)
