GTK is a widget toolkit, it can be targeted to any rendering engine, X-windows, GDI etc. BTW, this article is about GTK running natively on OS-X, which means it utilises the Aqua rendering engine. So there.
I'm sorry, but they hardly look impressive to me. Take a look at this, if you are looking for something impressive.
I'm happy that a celebrity has condescended to write free software, but I am sure the world can do without another Email client with one frame for folders and another for a list of messages.
Z-OS is the latest in the series of operating systems for IBM Mainframes, which I would assume are run by quite a few organisations.
While it's true that one may not come across a Mainframe-based webserver on the internet, they still rule the datacenters, and are generally considered pretty secure.
Google is doing this. Click on a button in the Google Toolbar, and your compute starts number crunching in its idle time. Check out the Google Compute Faq and the Kuro5hin discussion on the subject.
This beta build kicks ass. It is faster than every other browser I have used(possible exception of Opera for a few pages). The quick launch option rocks.
The layers part needs a bit of work though, I would prefer if they implement regular tabs, with keyboard shortcuts for everything.
And the size of the browser kit is just 4.5 MB ! Phoenix is great, but Kmeleon would be the way to go for Windows users.
However, things are changing now. There is a lot more media coverage on "Free" software and its advantages. Computer Magazines in India have been distributing Linux CDs for a long time now, so the level of Linux knowledge is increasing. There are LUGs in a number of cities in India.
The reason to be skeptical of this initiative is that Microsoft has traditionally invested heavily in India, and Indian politicians love to be seen with Bill. And the widespread corruption doesnt help either.
The size of the binary has jumped by a full megabyte from 1.0 to 1.1. I understand lots of new functionality has been added, but i hope there are also efforts to maintain(decrease?) the size of binary. There are still dialup users in some places:(
I would love to see a browser-only Mozilla variant weighing around 3-4 MB (Opera-sized).(I understand there is the Net-installer stuff, but it still takes upto 7MB)
You're ofcourse correct Sir.

And the tech support will say

This is kinda Meta you know.. Michael is trying to justify his dupe postings.
Low UID users Troll YOU !
It really sucks because it's easy to use and integrates some nice features automatically
Wow..
Is this the fault of the application? Should the user-interface be cryptic and hostile so that people dont use it?
Maybe they'll drop everything and make a File manager ?

I wonder if that's needed. Lots of websites use Google as their default search engine, for example Netscape search uses Google.
People smart enough to use Google cache and groups.google.com will always find alternatives .

Though it looked like a chameleon to me.
