lso if you expect us to believe that after 4 months the machine can't run IE and this is a windows problem, ummm...your on crack, none of us would put up with windows if it completely failed after just a few months.
If you got that monopoly by having a good OS, sure. But I do remember Microsoft telling retailers if they didn't do as they were told they wouldn't be selling Windows anymore.
I use my grandparents Windows XP machine sometimes. When it first was installed, to my surprise it worked okay. But after a few months it started dying. Barely any new applications have been installed and it is mostly spyware free. The DSL connection randomly stops working, or sometimes just the DNS. It's a fairly new P4 machine and it is now having trouble running IE, Office, and anything else at the same time. Completely ridiculous.
Effective is subjective. If you mean, an OS that effectively makes profit, then obviously that's the case. But each time I use a Windows machine I get frustrated to the point of giving up very quickly. I've found very little, if anything at all that is effective about Windows.
As a corporation, Microsoft's primary focus is profit. This means that being an 'effective OS' will take a backseat to profit. This doesn't mean it's impossible to do both, but I'm sure that most people here will agree that Microsoft hasn't accomplished both as of yet.
I don't even know if it's flashs' fault. maybe it's Mozilla's...maybe both...because even a god damned gif uses 5% cpu. In any case, Flash is pretty much unusable because of the horrible framerates.
And no, Shockwave isn't available, which makes fun things like iSketch completely unusable.
And why the hell was my original post modded funny, I was being serious.
Even with many oil companies, gas prices are still going up far too fucking much. Not even a year ago it was outrageous to pay more than $.55/litre up here in Ontario now we're *lucky* to get $.65/litre, with normal prices being from $.72 - $.79.
This would be terrible for me. I deliver pizza. I turn my car on and off 10-50 times a day. 30 seconds * 50 == 25 minutes. TWENTY FIVE MINUTES. This would seriously hinder my income.
Overreact?! They're SPAMMING FOR VOTES. It's as simple as that. Political campaigns are treated as a form of marketing, so why the hell should they be allowed to spam?
And how do you determine if something thinks? Of course, we know all humans are capable of thought, but what about other life? Who's to say that plants don't have some from of thought pattern? Or animals? Just because we cannot communicate with something does not make them unthinking, unfeeling, or unknowing.
Who sets the limit though? If it were up to some religious groups, I'd be willing to bet that most things on the internet right now wouldn't be here. I'm not saying I'd personally want pedophilia or beastiality to continue. But I don't want someone else telling me what I'm allowed to see. If they really wanted to stop pedophilia and beastiality they should track it down to it's source and prosecute the individuals involved.
Who the hell trusts their government? Who the hell wants someone else to tell them, and everybody what they can and cannot see. Information should not be controlled, and it can't ever be completely controlled.
I haven't got through the whole thing yet, but it sounds to me that the motivation behind it is that SCO is whining that IBM is making money off of services now, and they're not.

Mmmkay...if you believe in that. I however, don't follow laws that I strongly disagree with.
Civil disobediance.
Democracy and free speech are still mutually exclusive.
That's why at least half the senators are part of a party? When I watch CPAC i rarely see a senator labeled as an independant

That's exactly why I stopped using it.

The fact is that I'm a very impatient person, and when I have to wait two minutes for the god damn machine to open a 'cmd' I get pretty pissed.

I second that.
Drink some real alcohol.

Uhm. Theres no flash player for PPC.
They fix the Flash player first? I mean, jesus. Yeti Baseball shouldn't be using my entire CPU.
Yes, let's judge everybody by how 'crazy' they sound. Nevermind if there's fact and evidence behind it -- if it sounds crazy, it must be crazy!

To Alcohol! The cause of -- and solution to, all of life's problems.

Worst. Idea. Ever.
