How much permforance overhead will this cause? The 'Desktop Environments' already eat a lot of RAM and CPU. How much disk space will you lose over this? All the metadata has to be stored somewhere, and just glancing over the link I read something about a versioning system, which will definently take up quite a bit of space. Will a 20gb hard drive become 15gb with DBFS?
I just set those 3 config variables, restarted Firefox and there is no change in my fonts. AFAIK, firefox for Debian Unstable (0.9.3) is compiled with freetype support...
I saw a kiosk last week that was running an odd looking browser. about:config did not do anything so after a few minutes I realized I could just lookup a page that did browser detection. Much to my surprise it was Mozilla 0.9 (a very stripped down, weirdly themed) running on NT 4.51.
(For anyone who cares this what as a Casey's Bar and Grill at Yorkdale mall Toronto)
Far in the past, yes. I was a student in Ontario for many years, and at *least* the past 5, probably much more have been with Microsoft Office. Now, we also had old versions of Corel Office stuff along with it, but everyone just used Office.
Web based applications *suck*. I do not want to refresh the page everytime I change an option, I do not want to use some propriatary scripting language to run a word processor. The web was *not* designed for applications and applications will *not* run well on the web.
Hah! My server/router is a 233mhz beast. I've got it doing routing for my home network, DNS for my domain, HTTP, mail, and sometimes an xfrisk server. The CPU usage climbs to about 50% when 300kb/sec or more is pushed through it. I love my server.
What world are you living in? 750Mhz is quite significant in my mind. Other than my Desktop machine (1.67GHz), I have no other PCs that are more than 233Mhz.
Yes. It's very stupid to stick to your ideals. It's very stupid to believe in something. Maybe some of these people really believe in outsourcing, THAT'S FINE. But I'm willing to bet there's lots of people that don't, and I hope they stick to their beliefs.
In fact, I'm jobless right now;). There are many sites out there dedicated to helping people track and keep virii under control. We don't need another one.
But seriously, what do you expect a single game company to do about this? Stand up and be the good guys? Compete with other companies with much lower labor costs? Save the world?
I'm part of the public and I do not want any censorship, there are others that feel like me. Why can't I have my way?
Besides that, what the fuck is wrong with a word. A WORD IS JUST A WORD. Get over it. There are a billion things more dangerous than a so-called 'bad word'.

Did they announce it? Or is Miss Cleo now employed by /.?

Microsoft is looking at it constant court costs and anti-trust fines as simply 'the cost of doing business,' and has no intention of changing.
This tells me that new steps need to be taken. If fines aren't a deterrent for them, then something else should be imposed.
Erm, s/RIAA/SOCAN/

Not to mention all the antibiotics you get in your animal and animal biproducts...

As long as my computer is being told what it can or cannot do by someone other than me, I DON'T WANT IT.
You're implying that the only way one can get an education, is by going to post-secondary. This is completely untrue.

Do we have to hear about every little fucken virus that comes out? Maybe start a new section, virii.slashdot.org -- then I can ignore this shit.
Well, maybe not everyone believes in it that strongly, but personally when I do believe in something I stand by that belief through thick and thin.

Yes, I do. It has to start somewhere.

Uhm. Audio Lunchbox gives you that when you buy an album. The MP3s + Oggs, artwork, and lyrics.
But don't believe me, see for yourself
People are much more likely to accept something as a fact if it comes from 'a scientist'.
Well, DUH! These people underwent years of brainwas^H^H^H^Htraining, of course we should take the word without question.
No text entry box?! I hope to god debian doesn't 'upgrade' to 2.4.0 anytime soon.
Please don't tell me your talking about this screenshot. That thing is more horrid than the QT file selector.
I still have no clue what the hell is wrong with the file dialog. I love it. Please, someone tell me what's wrong with it.
