    Why? All the D00R's musicians are still alive. Jim never played a reproducable(sp?) instriment. I doubt they will ever be able to reproduce Jim's voice. It just would not be the same...

    Alot of us run Multi-Boot systems, I find this method way better than getting raped by Loki for another $50, just to have it run on both OS's.

    True, he used NT for Quake2, but I cannot say he is still using NT for Quake3?

    He used to used NextStep for Quake1 dev, then graduated to NT. :)

    The reason why you think SQL7 is a memory hog is cuase it will use every drop of memory that is available on the machine, but it will release it if needed.

    I live in Ewtahh, and have lived here for 30 years. Its not like that at all. Every saturday I throw a party and we all play Q3 and discuss Linux and OSS before we head out to Bricks (a club). How do you mean restrictive? We have a Department of Parks & Rec(liqour store), that keeps our bellies filled quite nice.

    We have an Iridium phone, they say a global connection is possible, but we could not get it to work in China or Hong Kong without being 1 mile from any building or tree. They must have 10 sats above the US and 1 above the whole cont. of Asia. It works fine in the states. But who needs it in the states right? This tech has a while to go before I use it again.

    I'm not asking for it for free, I am just dont like having to buy TWO (2) versions of the same game, if I wanna play it on Linux or Winblows! (same machine of course).

    So you are saying buy a car the drives on freeways and a car that drives in the city. Ford needs to put food on the table.

    I wish all game companies would release there software like this. Instead of hiring Loki.
    That way I PAY $$$ for the game, and can play it when I boot in Linux or Winblows. Instead of paying for 2 copies. Hint.. Hint.. Bungie and Microprose.

    This story reminds of some Speed Controllers(Novak?) put into Radio Controlled Cars. When the juice was off, the speed controller would use the electric motor as a un-optimized generator and feed the spikes back into the battery. I think it gave like upto an extra 1 minute runtime on a 4 minute race pack. Every bit counts on that stuff.

    As I recall back in my "Atari400 / BBS 300bps modem" days. A hacker was someone who hacked into systems via the modem. There even was a TV show about some kids that hacked. Anyone remember the movie War Games?

    When did "hacker"'s meaning change to Kernal hacker OSS hacker? Did I miss something?
